Day to day program Dubrovnik - Split

All distances are “approximate distances” of recommended bike tours.

Day 1: Dubrovnik (Embarkation)

Individual journey to Dubrovnik. Check-in on board starts between 2 and 2.30 pm at Gruž, the town port. At about 4.30 pm, there will be the opportunity to go on a guided tour through Dubrovnik, where we learn about the town’s history and visit the most impressive sites. The boat will spend the night in Gruž providing the opportunity to experience Dubrovnik’s nightlife.

Day 2: Dubrovnik – Island Šipan – Island Mljet (aprx. 7 mi./11 km + aprx. 18 mi./30 km)

In the morning we cross over to the nearby island of Šipan. Šipan is the largest of the Elaphiti Islands, yet still humble in size. A great place for our first bike tour and to get used to riding in a group. After our first tour we board the boat and enjoy a cruise to the green island of Mljet. Green because 70 % of its landmass is covered by woodland making it the most forested island in the Mediterranean region. Homer mentioned this lovely island in his epic poem “Odyssey”. He made it a home for the Nymph Calypso and the legendary Greek king Odysseus, who could not resist Calypso and stayed on Mljet for seven years. We arrive in the harbor of Pomena and enjoy a round tour on our bikes through the Mljet National Park. The night is spent in the harbor of Pomena.

Day 3: Islands Lastovo and Korčula: Korčula town (aprx. 17.5 mi./28 km)

In the morning our ship takes us to the Island of Lastovo. The island is one of the smaller inhabited islands in the Adriatic Sea. The Emperor Augustus appreciated the mild climate, and in Roman times it was even named “Augusta Insula” after him. Today’s cycle tour takes us across this beautiful island. The gold-coloured white wine “Marastina”, known even beyond Croatia’s borders, is grown here. Back at the boat it’s time to cast off! A crossing takes us over to Korčula Island, regarded as one of the most beautiful islands in Dalmatia. The picturesque town of Korčula competes with Venice for the honor of being the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo. It is here that we spend the night and enjoy a guided city tour packed with fascinating anecdotes concerning the history of the city and the island.

Day 4: Korčula Island: Korčula town – Vela Luka (aprx. 37.5 mi./60 km)

Today’s cycling tour leads us across the charming island of Korčula. A mild Mediterranean climate and a vast variety of different landscapes accompany us along the tour. Take your time and don’t forget to take a break to enjoy the view over the deep blue sea and neighboring islands. Dinner is served on board to recharge after a day full of activity. Overnight stay in the sheltered bay of Vela Luka.

Day 5: Island Hvar: Hvar Town – Stari Grad (aprx. 13 mi./22 km)

The day starts with a relaxing cruise to Hvar town on Hvar Island. Make use of the time before the cycle tour starts and go for a little stroll through the city. Standing on the magnificent Renaissance Square you can enjoy a view up to the Spanish fortress towering high above the city. Today’s bike tour takes us from the city of Hvar through small villages and lavender fields to Stari Grad on the opposite side of the island. The descent to Stari Grad offers breathtaking views and we board the boat for lunch. The afternoon can be used to explore the artistic seaside town and to visit the local galleries or museums. The night is spent in Stari Grad.

Day 6: Hvar Island: Stari Grad – Jelsa – Stari Grad – Island Brač (aprx. 13 mi./22km)

In the morning we start on a scenic bike tour from Stari Grad to the harbor of Jelsa and back. Jelsa is the perfect place for some ice cream and a coffee and on the way back to the boat we pass through the picturesque town of Vrboska and cycle through the ancient Greek plains which are now a protected UNESCO heritage site. On arrival in Stari Grad we board the boat for lunch and cruise to the island of Brač. The Island is famous for its radiant, precious limestone that was, among others, used for the White House in Washington and in the construction of the German Reichstag building in Berlin. During the cruise we can stop for a refreshing swim stop directly from the boat before arriving in the harbor town of Milna. We will spend the afternoon and evening here.

Day 7: Island Brač: Milna – Postira (aprx. 18 mi./29 km)

Today’s bike tour leads us along the northern coastline of Brač from Milna to Postira with beautiful views across the Dalmatian Islands and across to the mainland. Then, for the last time in an eventful week, we enjoy the cruise to the UNESCO world heritage city of Split. A guided city tour offers us the chance to see inside the former Palace of Emperor Diocletian and to learn about its transformation into the city which it has become. A cheerful evening meal on board the boat gives you time to celebrate the success of the week with fellow travelers and tour guides.

Day 8: Split (Disembarkation)

After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home or extended stay in Croatia.

Good to know
  • Cycling route distances in the travel program are approximate.
  • Itinerary changes We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements. • Language aboard Due to our international audience all tours are conducted bilingually, in English and German.
  • Level 2-3: The cycle tours require an advanced level of fitness. The tours will take us up to a height of 200 – 500 m above sea-level. The day-tours up to 37 mi./60 km will take us through hilly and mountainous terrain and will be completed without any time-constraints. Participants will also need to master long and steep climbs. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend time on board the boat, instead of taking a planned cycle-tour. Helmet use is mandatory on all cycle tours. You are strongly encouraged to bring your own (well-fitted) helmet. Rental helmets are available in limited numbers (reservation requested).
  • Guided group pace: On our regular cycling tour the riding pace is determined by the cyclists on regular bicycles. We ask guests who have reserved an e-bike to be mindful of this and to acknowledge that also regular cyclists need time to rest and longer to climb the hills. Thank you for your understanding.

Today’s cycling tour leads us from Stari Grad to the capital city of Hvar on the opposite side of the Island. Day 4: Island Korčula: Vela Luka – Korčula City (aprx. 37.5 mi./60 km)

Today’s cycle tour leads us across the charming island of Korčula all the way to Korčula city. A mild Mediterranean climate and a broad variety of different landscapes await us here. Take your time, and remember to take a break to enjoy the view over the deep blue sea and neighboring islands. The picturesque town of Korčula with its fishbone alleyways competes with Venice for the honor of being the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo. It is here that we spend the night and enjoy a guided city tour packed with fascinating anecdotes concerning the history of the city and the island.

Day 5: Island Korčula – Lastovo (aprx. 17 mi./28 km)

In the morning we depart the bustling city of Korcula and make our way to the tranquil island of Lastovo. On our way we enjoy a swim stop directly from the boat and a delicious lunch before we set off to explore the island on our bikes. The island is one of the smaller inhabited islands in the Adriatic Sea. The Emperor Augustus appreciated the mild climate, and in Roman times it was even named “Augusta Insula” after him. The population of just over 800 still lives mainly from fishing in the waters rich in fish, agriculture and viticulture. The gold-coloured white wine “Marastina”, known even beyond Croatia’s borders, is grown here. A peaceful night in a secluded natural harbor is spent under a starry night sky.

Day 6: Mljet Island: Mljet National Park (aprx. 16 mi./30 km)

In the morning we enjoy breakfast during a cruise to the green island of Mljet. Green because 70 % of its landmass is covered by woodland making it the most forested island in the Mediterranean region. Homer mentioned this lovely island in his epic poem “Odyssey”. After a refreshing swim stop from the boat and lunch on board we arrive in the harbor of Pomena and enjoy a round tour on our bikes through the Mljet National Park in the afternoon. The night is spent in the harbor or Pomena.

Day 7: Mljet Island – Dubrovnik (aprx. 20 mi./33 km)

From Pomena, we cycle the length of this wonderfully vegetated island, enjoying the shade of the trees along the way. Our boat waits for us in the harbour of Sobra where we embark and enjoy the last cruise of the week with our destination being the grand city of Dubrovnik. After arrival in Dubrovnik there is plenty of time to explore the UNESCO world Heritage city and to take part on a guided city tour. A cheerful evening meal on board the boat gives you time to celebrate the success of the week with fellow travelers and tour guides.

The crew was wonderful; the guides and Goldy especially, as they were who we mainly interacted with. Everything was well-explained regarding our day’s ride and consideration was taken for the various levels of riders. The food was good, if a bit salty for my taste, but the coffee wasn’t very good. The cappuccino machine was broken and I know we were the last trip, so fixing it at that point didn’t make sense, but just saying. All in all, I loved my experience and would/will book another trip with you. Thanks!

The concept of cycling by day and sailing between rides works very well. Our two guides were excellent. They were able to adjust the routes according to the weather forecast thereby achieving 5 days of dry and (mostly) sunny cycling. They were also very safety conscious. The boat was clean. The cabin was quite small but with adequate storage. The en suite shower worked well. Meals were very good. The bikes were not in the best condition, unlike the ones on our last boatandbike tour. Along with other guests we had anticipated Breakfast and Dinner on board with either a packed lunch or finding a café during the day. A large cooked lunch on 2 days didn’t work as well. €25 pp for water is frankly excessive. Paying in cash on the boat seems very dated. Overall a wonderful week.

Thank you really much for this review! We are really happy that you enjoyed our tour. However, we apologize that the bikes weren't in the best condition and you couldn't pay by card. We are continuously trying to improve our services and will take your feedback into consideration! Hopefully, we can welcome you on board again soon. Best wishes, Boat Bike Tours

Tara and Sjerd were excellent tour guides. They adjusted the rides to accommodate the weather and made special arrangements with operators (ex wine tasting) for our group. They were cognizant of the wide range of cyclists experiences and were able to accommodate everyones needs. The cook was outstanding, albeit and bit too much food! The quality and presentation of meals was excellent. The bartender was very engaged with cyclist too.
