Cycling Experience Thru France’s Provence Region

This was my first experience living on a barge for 7 days. I was with a cycling mate who wanted to experience riding through the country side of Frances Provence/Camargue areas. The accommodation was clean & tidy although compact ( which was expected as it was a barge) The bathroom was very tight & compacted. Again it is a barge. But if you happened to be a person larger then average (like over 180cm) it could be difficult to navigate. The staff were always pleasant & accomodating.Each meal was beautifully prepared & presented by the kitchen staff with a good selection of food Each evening meal was different with a different wine recommended each day. The tour guide was very helpful & experienced in guidance & local knowledge of the areas travelled. For the month of June morning temperatures started off cool but from mid morning into the afternoon temps could reach around 30c.But there was always a cool breeze But sunscreen was recommended as the rides mostly finished not til late afternoon. The other 19 people on the tour from the US & Australia & other countries were always friendly & pleasant. Overall it was a great experience & I would recommend it. The only thing is that as the cycling distances do vary each day it would be an advantage to already have a cycling prepared legs used to daily cycling as you are not only cycling but stopping at locations along the route & doing a lot of walking.
