Mare Frisium

The Mare Frisium—named after the historic “Sea of Friesland” in the northern Netherlands—is a classic three-masted schooner originally launched in 1916. She began her career as a herring fishing vessel on the North Sea and later served as a coastal cargo ship operating between Scandinavia and England during and after World War II.

In 1995, the ship was beautifully restored and transformed into a comfortable passenger sailing vessel. Today, the Mare Frisium combines authentic maritime character with modern comfort, offering guests a unique sailing experience on the water.

Description of the cabins
The Mare Frisium features 10 compact yet comfortable guest cabins located on the lower deck. Each cabin is equipped with bunk beds, a washbasin, shelving, heating, and a private bathroom with shower and toilet. Some cabins also have a small skylight/porthole in the ceiling (non-opening).

Description of the ship
On the lower deck, guests can enjoy two stylish and cozy salons with comfortable seating areas, including one salon with a bar. The spacious sun deck offers several outdoor seating areas—perfect for relaxing with a drink while taking in the scenery during the voyage.

Whenever weather conditions allow, the crew loves to raise the sails and switch off the engine for a true sailing experience. Guests are warmly invited to actively participate in sailing the ship. With an impressive sail area of 6,824 sq. ft. (634 m²), sailing aboard the Mare Frisium is an unforgettable experience.
