About this tour

Croatia has a beautiful coast with thousands of islands, reefs and bays. Numerous romantic ruins, charming hills, countless natural beauties are waiting to be discovered.

The National Parks of Dalmatia bicycle cruise is one of our easiest tour. We invite you to spend a week by boat and bike between the mainland and the islands. Delicious cuisine, beautiful sites, a friendly crew, and knowledgeable tour guides await your arrival. Starting in Trogir, we visit two National Parks as well as the islands of Central Dalmatia.
Highlights of the tour include UNESCO protected old town of Trogir, Primošten, Šibenik, with its famous cathedral, and Zadar, as well as the National Park Krka-Waterfalls, and the Kornati Islands. On a romantic motor yacht, our floating accommodation for the week, we discover the charm of the Adriatic in this wonderful way.

Parallel to some of our National Parks of Dalmatia tour dates we are also offering the National Parks of Dalmatia PLUS tour with one of the first class ships. On this tour E-bike- and hybrid bike rides are conducted parallel – the itinerary is similar. Therefore the PLUS tours would be the perfect alternative if the desired tour date on the regular tour is already fully booked or if you are looking for a tour on an even more luxury boat.

The ship – Your sailing hotel
In between cycling excursions, you cruise along with the ship, which travels to a new destination every day. You dine, sleep and eat breakfast on board. You’ll receive a packed lunch every day, and you can usually choose between a longer or shorter bike ride. It’s also possible to spend a day on board if you like. There are rental bikes on board, but you can also bring your own if you mention it when booking.

Day to day program

All distances are “approximate distances” of recommended bike tours.

The tour details are barring changes, a.o. as a result of nautical, technical or meteorological reasons. We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements. If necessary the tour will be operated in reverse.

Day 1: Trogir (Embarkation) – Rogoznica

Individual arrival either by car to Trogir or by plane to Split. After checking in on the motor yacht between 2 and 2:30 pm at Trogir your first cruise starts at 3 pm leading you to Rogoznica – a village on a small island which is connected to the mainland by a dam. Here you also spend our first night.

Day 2: Rogoznica – Primošten (aprx. 12 mi./20 km) | Primošten – Šibenik – Skradin

In the morning we cycle from Rogoznica to Primošten. From there the boat takes us to the city of Šibenik to the spot where the Krka River flows into the Adriatic Sea. After visiting the famous cathedral and the lovely old town we set off again. On the cruise we pass the lower course of the river Krka following the river bend until we reach Skradin. In the port of the village we spend your night.

Day 3: National Park of Krka – Vodice (aprx. 12 mi./20 km)

The magnificent port of Skradin is today’s starting point for our excursion by boat and on foot to the most famous part of the Krka National Park with its unique waterfalls. In the early afternoon our boat takes you to the harbor of Vodice, a well-known holiday town on the Dalmatian mainland. Once we arrive, we enjoy an afternoon round tour in the surroundings of Vodice and visit some of the cultural remains of the region.

Day 4: Vodice – Island of Murter – Nature Park Telašćica (aprx. 25 km/16 mi.)

In the morning we cycle from Vodice to Murter Island that is connected to the mainland by the lift bridge at Tisno. We pass the bridge and cycle along the water front, passing by two very old coastal villages, until we reach a small landing place from where the boat takes us on a cruise through the National Park Kornati, an archipelago in crystal clear water which is known for its rich aquatic realm. Our destination is the Nature Park Telašćica. In the evening a walk through the park leads us along the stunning cliffs of the island. A salt lake and a family of donkey also characterise the nature park and make for a wonderful location to spend a quiet night.

Day 5: Island of Dugi Otok (aprx. 17 mi. / 28 km) | Dugi Otok – Zadar

After breakfast we start our bike tour from the Telašćica Nature Park, along a virtually traffic-free, panoramic road across the island. During the ride we’re treated to countless unforgettable views of neighbouring islands, breaking through the deep blue sea. We meet the ship in Savar and board for a crossing to the city of Zadar, which for centuries was the political, cultural, and spiritual centre of Dalmatia. Once we arrive, there is the opportunity to take part in a walking tour during which you will find out all about this fascinating city while strolling through the winding alleys and the lively old town, characterised by 3,000 years of history. The night is spent in Zadar.

Day 6: Islands of Ugljan and Pašman – Primosten (aprx. 20 mi/33 km)

During breakfast the boat crosses to the island of Ugljan at the channel of Zadar. Today we have a lot of time to explore both of the islands Ugljan and Pašman by bicycle. They have been connected by a bridge. We cycle along the East Coast, always with beautiful views to the mainland and the ocean. After our bike tour, we sail back to the city of Primosten on the mainland. Here we can enjoy some time swimming and exploring the quaint sea-side village. The night is spent in Primosten.

Day 7: Island of Solta (aprx. 9 mi./15 km) | Solta – Trogir

In the morning our motor yacht takes us to the island of Solta. Olive and fig trees and farmland surround the streets. The spicy smell of rosemary will follow you throughout the whole tour around the silent island until we reach the village Grohote. During mid day our last cruise takes us back to Trogir. Here we have enough time to visit the UNESCO World Heritage old town. Our last dinner gives us time to reminisce on the week that past and to say goodbye to fellow travellers, the crew, and tour guides.

Day 8: Trogir (Disembarkation)

After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home or extended stay in Croatia.

Good to know
  • Itinerary changes We reserve the right to make changes to the itinerary, depending on wind and weather conditions or organizational requirements. Sometimes the tour will be conducted in reverse order. You will find further details in your booking information package.
  • Language Due to our international audience all Islandhopping tours are conducted bilingually, in English and German.
  • Level 1 – 2 The bike routes require a basic level of fitness, which you should have acquired by occasional or daily cycling. The routes can reach an altitude of 328 ft. to 985 ft/100 to 300 meters. The daily routes of 9 to 22 mi./15 to 35 km will lead through hilly terrain and can be completed without time constraints. Participants will also need to master long and steep climbs, during which they are, however, also permitted to push their bicycles. The roads are mostly asphalted and there is little traffic outside of holiday periods. This tour is primarily a guided group tour. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned bicycle-tour.
  • Group riding pace: On our regular cycling tours, the cyclists on regular bicycles determine the pace. We ask guests who have reserved an e-bike to be mindful of this and to acknowledge that the regular cyclists need time to rest and take longer to climb the hills. We thank you for your understanding.
  • Requirement to wear a helmet Helmets are mandatory on our bike tours. It is advised to bring your own, well fitted, helmet with you as our rental helmet numbers are limited (reservation required).
  • Bringing Children We believe that only children with a good physical condition and previous bicycle tour experience and a minimum age of 10 are able to master the cycle tours with their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.30 m (4.3 ft.) for hybrid bikes and 1.50 m (5 ft.) for e-bikes. In Croatia there is a helmet duty for all children up to age 16.
  • Catering The on-board chef is a member of the crew and prepares the breakfast and one or two warm meals a day. Catering starts with the dinner on the arrival day and ends with the breakfast on the departure day. 2022: The catering consists of 4 x full board and 3 x half board. 2023: The catering consists of 2 x full board and 5 x half board.
  • Our ships Please do not forget that the ship is your hotel as well as a machine, which has to be maintained and operated – day and night. A certain level of noise is therefore inevitable.

Fantastic trip with excellent guides. Food on board was fantastic. Great cycling through some very nice roads.

Pierre Laliberte

We were group of 12 people (6 couples). For us this was a trip where all crew members absolutly were performing fantastically and we are really happy to have had the opportunity to participate. Ivan our captain did have a great overview of the situation at any time, with a fantastic support from Miro and Marko. Our guieds, Lucija and Nikita did absolutely deliver a fantastic job securing all participants bicycleing through the great sceneries of Croatian landscape, and safely bring the whole group back to the boat. Zvonimir our bartender, did safe our lives from dehydration and starving with the great crew in kitchen Ivan and Bosiljka. Perfect combination of sailing, swimming, cyckling, history, eating, (drinking) and dancing. Again thanks to all the crew and guieds for a great time and fantastic service during our stay and we will definitely recommend Romantica and/or similar trips to our friends. Best regards from the Icelandic team.
