I’ve been working for Channel Cruises Holland (CCH) since the 1980s. In those days it was a small office for small passenger ships, especially for trips with schoolchildren. When I took over the company in 1995, I was intensively involved in the development of the then completely new concept of cycling and cruising. This resulted in the birth of brand and tour operator Boat Bike Tours (BBT) about 15 years later. In order to be able to focus specifically on cycling vacations, I sold my company to Laurens in 2007. Since then I’ve been director of CCH and BBT and am fully involved in operational matters, rather than running the company. In recent years, the company has gone through an enormous development in a market that is rapidly changing. And that’s not always easy, but it’s never boring! Nowadays I’m mostly involved in the management of incidents and emergencies, legal issues, product development, and maintaining contacts with cooperation partners and other major parties. I’m married to Britta and we have one adult son.
My hobbies include: walking my dog to enjoy nature, collect my thoughts and empty my head. During a holiday I love hiking in the Dolomites or another beautiful area. Our “private fleet” at home includes several canoes, so – as a real “Waterlander”- we go on canoe tours in these beautiful wetlands as often as we can.
The best thing about my work is without a doubt the variety: no year is the same, every season is different, I meet and work with lots of idiosyncratic and interesting people and always meet new challenges.

I live in Monnickendam with my husband and two teenage boys. I’ve been working at the office of Boat Bike Tours for a long time now, and I still really enjoy it.
My hobbies include skiing, tennis and traveling.
The best thing about my work is contact with customers, getting guests enthusiastic about a boat bike holiday and, of course, nothing beats a nice review at the end of the trip. Working in a cozy and close-knit team at the office also does a lot of good.

I have lived in Monnickendam all my life, now together with my daughter and son.
My hobbies include: reading, going on walks, watching my kid’s baseball games. I also love Ajax and F1.
The best thing about my work is helping our guests book a nice trip. I also take care of the boarding information and make sure that the programs and ships are on the website. I also went to several fairs, where I met partners and helped to recruit new partners.

I am a true child of Lake Konstanz with Croatian roots and live with my husband and daughter in Radolfzell. After training as a travel agent, I have been working for the Boat Bike Tours brand Islandhopping for over twenty years. I answer all charter inquiries, prepare the corresponding offers, clarify individual route and program requests with the customers and maintain contact with our staff and guides in the individual destinations to ensure that these special trips run smoothly.
My hobbies: I love to cook and am passionate about listening to music. Whenever possible, I spend my free time in the fresh air, with as much sun as possible and preferably by the sea.
What I like most about my job: I particularly enjoy the friendly interaction with the entire team – from our tour guides to my lovely colleagues in all our destinations. Additionally, the individual support of my charter customers and the positive feedback after a successful trip motivate me again and again.

I was born and raised here in Konstanz on the beautiful Bodensee. This is where I did my A-levels before starting a law degree. However, I quickly realized the world of law was not for me. A student job with a tour operator enabled me to quickly switch to studying Tourism and Business Administration in Ravensburg. Shortly after completing my degree, I became an Islandhopper and even after so many years I cannot imagine a better job.
My hobbies: During the warmer months, I enjoy exploring the surrounding area with a few friends on my bike, including garden pubs. More passive is my passion for soccer, the most beautiful pastime in the world, which I often watch on TV and occasionally in the stadium. I also enjoy discovering new destinations when I travel.
The best thing about my work: being able to brainstorm, suggest, implement or create ideas for our tours, and then seeing these ideas come into reality, is very rewarding. Our Islandhopping songbooks, which have been inviting people to get together and sing on our ships for years, is a great example of this.

I was born and raised near Dresden and studied Classical Archaeology, Ancient History and Art History in Tübingen, Athens and Cologne after graduating from high school. At Boat Bike Tours I found my professional passion in tour guiding, product management and marketing of the Islandhopping tours. From 2005 to 2022 I was part of the office team in Konstanz, but now I take care of the management of our Greek partner company Cycle Greece full-time. For the Boat Bike Tours brand Islandhopping I continue to work as a freelancer in marketing with a focus on creating various texts for our print products, websites and social media as well as coordinating our press work.
My hobbies: I prefer to be outdoors, whether by bike or on foot and preferably with the sea in sight. I love reading and listening to music and a particularly big fan of street cinema: I love sitting in a street café and making up stories about passers-by.
What I like most about my job: is the variety in which no two days are the same. I really enjoy working in our international team and I value the friendly atmosphere in which this collaboration takes place: the result of which is a travel product that we can all be proud of together.

After a beautiful childhood in Schoorl, I went to study business administration at Nyenrode. At home we always had a sailing boat called a clipper (my father’s hobby that got out of hand), where I would often fill in as first mate. So I was raised with sailing in my blood…
In 1999 I took over ‘de Zeilvaart’ (a sailing ship booking office), then Channel Cruises Holland and Boat Bike Tours in 2007, which I focused on fully from 2009. It feels great to put my energy and enthusiasm into the further success of our company. I’m married to Lisette and have two teenage children, Sophia and Kick. We live in Broek in Waterland.
My hobbies include: I really love traveling, especially in Italy as I love good cooking. I’m a member of a culinary cooking club in Amsterdam. Besides that, I’m into a lot of sports. As well as being on the Waterlandse Hockey Club veteran team, I also jog and do bootcamps twice a week.
The best thing about my work is working on new products, tours and ships, as well as improving the business and existing products. And also building up our team.

Growing up in New Zealand, I have always been surrounded by beautiful landscapes and the sea. On a mission to explore the world and its diversity, I left the small island I called home and set off on an adventure starting in Europe. After only 6 months I found a job working as a bicycle tour guide on board the Islandhopping ships which turned out to be the best way for me to go after my ambition by visiting the most beautiful islands and coastal regions of the world by boat and bike together with participants from all corners of the world. After my time as a tour guide, I joined the “team behind the scenes” in the Boat Bike Tours office in Constance, Germany. Since then, I have found my passion in representing the Boat Bike Tours products to guests and business partners around the world and in coordinating the internal processes of the company office Germany. I love my job and the team and hope to support the company in its success for many years to come.
My hobbies include: in contrast to the administrative work in the office, I enjoy woodworking, DIY projects and creating memories together with my son especially while visiting new places.
What I like most about my job: the greatest thing about my job is being part of a team of incredible people working together to provide a product we can be honestly proud of. I also love to hear from our guests and to see the wonderful travel memories captured in pictures throughout the season.

I originally learned a creative trade. This also included customer service and sales. After parental leave and raising children, I was looking for a new professional challenge. When the Boat Bike Tours brand Islandhopping was looking for support in accounting, I seized the opportunity to reorient myself. I completed further training to become a financial accounting specialist. Since then, I have been taking care of all income and expenses, preparing travel expense reports and maintaining our relationship with the larger financial accounting department in Amsterdam and our local office here in Konstanz.
My hobbies: I love traveling with my husband and scuba diving. I also like to spend my free time doing creative handicrafts and reading.
What I like most about my job: handling and solving complex financial challenges. I appreciate the good team spirit, the cohesion within the team and the collegiality.

I have worked in several roles at BBT, both in the office and on board our sailing ships. In 2014 I started working in the marketing department at Boat Bike Tours. From the end of 2019 I’ve been able to focus my full attention on making Boat Bike Tours more sustainable.
I live with my husband and 2 children in the former tourist church in Onderdijk (just below Medemblik), where we see both The Noordrouters and the Sail & Bike IJsselmeer cyclists.
My hobbies include: reading the newspaper undisturbed, being outside, working in my beautiful garden, staring at the sea and sailing.
The best thing about my work is the contact with other enthusiastic “greenskeepers”.

I’m originally from Germany but have been living and working in the Netherlands since 1984. I’ve lived in several places but I finally ended up living in the beautiful city of Alkmaar, well known for the cheese market.
My hobbies include: Mostly I like to be out in nature cycling or walking, but a good glass of wine with good company also works well. At this moment my two young kids seem to be my biggest hobby.
The best thing about my work is: I work with numbers and numbers seem to be the same everywhere. But the enthusiasm and dedication of my colleagues have inspired me from the start and have made me as enthusiastic as they are.

I was born and raised in Dordrecht. After high school I moved to Amsterdam to study and wound up working on ships already as a student. In 1986 I started to sail professionally and soon ended up in shipping, on small passenger boats. I’ve been building and sailing ships for years, I reinvented many a boat and having a wonderful time. Now I’ve been boatless for about seven years. For the last three years I’ve been living together with Harrie in a beautiful spot in Friesland. I finally have some grass under my feet. For the last four years I’ve been working for Boat Bike Tours.
My hobbies include: My work has always been my life. So I still spend a lot of time working and I enjoy it a lot. I also love gardening and cycling. And you can often find me in the gym.
The best thing about my work is: There are a lot of fun things about my role. Getting all the product details “right”, dealing with all the tour guides, setting out on a journey to sketch out a new tour, strategic discussions in our team, etc.

My whole life I’ve been involved in sailing and other water related activities. Originally born in the southern part of the Netherlands it started with small boats on small lakes. But soon I started to sail professionally on various large sailing party boats. Since 2017 I have been working within the BBT community. At first as an intern on the logistics side of the company, later as a sailor on the ships and now I’m focusing on organizing the boat-bike programs we offer, making sure that all the holidays of our 15.000 guests run as smoothly as possible. For me, that never gets dull. With every cruise being unique and different from all others every ship that casts off from the harbor feels like a new victory.
My hobbies include: I found my passion in sailing when I was young(er) but when I need to clear my head I always go and ride my mountain-bike through the forest.
The best thing about my work: Being in contact with the whole organisation, from the marketing department to the ship’s crew and from the administration to the tour guides.

My hobbies include: making long walks with my dog, but I also love to spend time in the garden. I also try to spend as much time as possible with friends and family, preferably over a drink and/or snack.
The best thing about my work is the advisory role I would say. This is where you help guests find the trip that suits them. However, as I am the contact person for our foreign booking partners, my job is mainly to make sure that communication with our partners is and stays clear and that their booking requests are handled as smooth as possible.

For me, the Boat Bike Tours brand of Islandhopping is a bit like glue – in the most positive sense! Once stuck, you just can’t get away from it! Starting in 2019, I was able to immerse myself in the complex world of a tour operator at our Konstance office as a dual student in outdoor and tourism management. During this time, I was able to learn the ins and outs of our company and get to know all the individual departments. I then worked as a tour guide on our ships in Croatia for a season and enjoyed it so much that I did it again the following season. I now enjoy supporting our marketing department and mainly take care of content marketing and our photo archive.
My hobbies: From hiking and snowboarding to cycling – I love everything that gets me out in the fresh air and into nature. I particularly love longer bike trips, with a tent and camping stove in my luggage! I’m particularly fond of Scandinavia with its endless forests, refreshing lakes and picturesque archipelago islands. In fact, I can hardly imagine anything better than setting up my tent right by the water after a long day on the bike and enjoying the evening in the peaceful natural surroundings.
What I like about my job: I particularly enjoy learning about all the complex details that go into providing a guest with the best vacation experience. I love to learn new things and enjoy the chance to implement this new knowledge directly.

I travel from ship to ship, meet so many people, and with my camera with me, I can create great videos with so many beautiful footage. I was born in Freiburg und now live in Konstanz with my son Johannes. I studied Tourism Management, first in Freiburg and then in Dublin. After my studies, I decided to go to Australia for a year to do Work & Travel, as I have always loved traveling. I spent most of my time there living in Sydney and eventually working in a travel agency in Cairns. I came to Konstanz in 2017, working for five years with Holidaycheck in Bottighofen, Switzerland before starting as a Tour Advisor for the Boat Bike Tours brand Islandhopping. The concept of traveling the world by bike and boat immediately appealed to me. The many different nationalities that come together on our tours make the whole experience extra special.
My hobbies: I like to go jogging, cycle almost every day and often do yoga. I also really enjoy dancing. I am often out with my son somewhere in the forest or at the lake. I love the music from Coldplay. I also enjoy reading about health topics, travel blogs and personal development. And, of course, I love traveling and take advantage of every opportunity to go snorkeling and diving.
What I like most about my job: Finding the best possible vacation experience for people from all over the world and then, ideally, hearing about their positive experiences afterwards! I’m always particularly happy when I see the area code +61 for Australia on the display, because it keeps me practicing my English. I also feel very comfortable in our team and am grateful that many friendships have developed with my colleagues.

When I was seventeen, I traveled to Eastern Europe on a high school trip where I met an eighty-five-year-old woman from Ohio on the steps of a museum. We struck up a conversation and I couldn’t believe how joyful, courageous, and full of life she was. She said it was because she loved to travel and I thought, I want to be just like her! Travel found me again when I graduated from university, and my first job was with MISR Travel, the National Tour Operator of Egypt, located in Rockefeller Center in New York City, a destination in itself. I fell into it and have been falling into travel ever since, working for several other tour operators before coming to Boat Bike Tours. I’m married to Brett, a chiropractor and we have one daughter, Jordan, and a black lab who loves her dinner.

I have been living on the beautiful Bodensee (Lake Konstanz) since 2023. Boat Bike Tours gave me the opportunity to complete the practical part of my outdoor tourism management studies at the Islandhopping office in Konstanz. However, even before I decided to study tourism, it was already in my DNA: I trained as a travel agent in my hometown of Leipzig and then worked as a bike guide in the cruise industry. This makes me an ideal fit for our team in Konstanz and I have a chance to explore all aspects of the business as part of my training. However, my primary role is that of travel consultant.
My hobbies: In my free time I am always outside – I love hiking or going for a spin on my race bike. Traveling is my greatest passion. I love backpacking and been a real globetrotter. I’ve particularly enjoyed the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia.

I joined the Boat Bike Tours / Islandhopping team in May 2023. I have always loved the travel and hospitality industry, having worked for a number of years in Sales and Marketing for various luxury hotel brands in Canada and Europe. Before joining Islandhopping, I had no idea that this concept of bike and boat tours existed: ‘On my first trip in Turkey, I instantly realized why guests fall in love with the concept. It is a truly unique way to explore and, in my opinion, the perfect combination of biking, exploring, swimming and time on board the ship. The concept is truly is one of a kind.’ In addition to translating many documents from German to English, my primary role at Islandhopping is to manage and update our personalized travel documents and the content on our website.
My hobbies: I love travel and I love being outside – hiking, biking, exploring or running after my daughter on the playground. If I can combine these activities then it is even better!
What I like most about my job: I can completely resonate with the Boat Bike Tours / Islandhopping product – unique, active vacation experiences. We have two great teams – in Amsterdam and Konstanz – and an exciting future ahead.
