Guarded by the towering Velebit mountain range in the east and hugged by the Istria Peninsula in the northwest lie the Kvarner bay islands. Quiet coves of crystal clear water surround the dramatic landscapes of the Kvarner bay islands; green hills and rocky moon landscapes give way to small harbor towns rich in history and culture. Discover the charm of the Adriatic Sea for yourself by e-bike and boat on board one of our romantic motor yachts.

The day begins with a well-rounded breakfast leaving you fit to explore the diversity of the Kvarner bay islands on a guided bike tour. Be it the medieval city of Rab, the car-free road in the sky on Dugi Otok or the contemplative life of the dwellers on the flower island of Molat, each day brings with it new discoveries. Evenings are mostly spent in picturesque harbor towns with winding alleyways where a great range of bars and cafes stand host for a relaxing evening.

The friendly crew will always make sure that you enjoy an easy-going journey. This tour belongs to the Plus-Program and matches activity with comfort. The proud motor yacht Andela Lora is your comfortable home for an amazing week. Tenderly decorated roomy cabins, bathrooms with separate shower, a comfortable sundeck as well as a stylish salon await your visit.

Due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements the tour could be conducted in reverse order.

    E-Bike Tour

The riding pace is determined by the cyclists on e-bikes. Guests who are taking part on this tour on a gravel bike should have the necessary physical condition to keep up with this pace. The tours will take us up to a height of 400 to 700 m above sea-level. The day-tours from 18to 36 mi. (30 to 60 km) will take us through hilly and mountainous terrain. Thank you for your understanding.

The ship – Your sailing hotel

In between cycling excursions, you cruise along with the ship, which travels to a new destination every day. You will sleep and have breakfast and 1 or 2 warm meals on board. Depending on the program, this will be lunch or dinner. The other meal is ashore (not included). It’s possible to spend a day on board if you like. There are rental bikes on board, but you can also bring your own if you mention it when booking.

    Itinerary

    Day 1 OmiΕ‘alj (Embarkation) – Cres

Individual arrival in OmiΕ‘alj, a nice little harbor village on the island of Krk. If you’re planning to arrive by car, we will organise a safe parking space for you. Check-in on the motor yacht between 2 and 2:30 pm (2027: from 1 pm). At approx. 3 pm the ship takes us to the island of Cres in about four hours. On Cres we take a walk through the Venetian old town in the evening.

    Day 2 Cres – MartinΕ‘Δ‡ica – Mali LoΕ‘inj
    28km17 mi

After breakfast we start our tour from the city of Cres to MartinΕ‘Δ‡ica. The boat awaits your arrival and lunch is served during the cruise to the island of LoΕ‘inj. If the weather is good, the captain will arrange a swim stop along the way before tying off in the harbor wellness town of Mali LoΕ‘inj. The port with its colorful facades and numerous cafes offers its visitors a welcoming atmosphere for a relaxed evening.

    Day 3 LoΕ‘inj – Veli LoΕ‘inj – Molat
    10km6 mi or 22km13 mi

We cycle along the seaside promenade to the south of LoΕ‘inj and visit the picturesque small harbor of Veli Losinj before you will meet the ship for lunch. In the afternoon we cross over to the island of Molat, where we can do another short cycling tour. Finally we stay overnight in a quiet harbor of Molat island.

Day 4 Molat – Dugi Otok – Savar – Zadar
    32km19 mi

During breakfast the ship leaves Molat and takes us past many small islands to the β€œspice island” of Dugi Otok. Our bike tour starts in the bay of BoΕΎava, which is surrounded by woods of pine, agave and tamarisk trees. We ride on an almost traffic free road. Our ride takes us first to a beautiful viewpoint at the northernmost point of the Island where the old Austrian lighthouse of Veli Rat resides. From here we continue by bike along the island ridge with beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding island landscapes all the way to the bay of Savar where the boat awaits us for a cruise to Zadar. Zadar has been the political, cultural and spiritual centre of Dalmatia for centuries. 3000 years of history have left their imprint on the character of this town and there are many things to be admired: the mighty fortified walls with their bastions, the loggia and the early Romanesque St. Donatus Basilica. In the evening our tour guide takes us on an extensive walk through the lively city center.

Day 5 Zadar – Island of Pag – Island of Rab
    20km12 mi

After a long crossing in the morning we reach the island of Pag. In the harsh but delightful landscape of the island we come across many fig and olive trees. Over the centuries the inhabitants have built numerous stonewalls for protection against the wind. Starting in Novalja we cycle on the narrow peninsula until we reach the sea from where the ship takes you to Rab. The island of Rab is one of the sunniest places in Europe. The town of Rab, the fortified capital of the island, was built in the Middle Ages on a wedge shaped headland, and marks one of the highlights of the trip. The four famous bell towers are the symbol of the adorned beauty of the town. After dinner we can explore the narrow alleys with numerous cozy cafΓ©s.

Day 6 Island of Rab – Island of Krk
    22km13 mi

Today we get to know the charming island of Rab on a lovely ride around the island. At lunchtime the ship awaits us in the harbor directly in front of the old town of Rab. We cruise towards the island of Krk and anchor along the way for a refreshing swim stop from the boat. In the late afternoon we reach the island of Krk where we spend the evening in the historical town of Krk.

    Day 7 Island of Krk – Vrbnik – OmiΕ‘alj
    47km29 mi

We cycle over the ridge of the island, which is covered by fragrant β€œmacchia” to a valley of vineyards and then onwards to the small museum town of Vrbnik in the northeast. The town, built on a 50-meter-high cliff and surrounded by vineyards, is the home of the famous white wine, Ε½lahtina. Another peculiarity that Vrbnik has to offer is the second narrowest alley in the world. The way leads us across the island through old villages and rich vegetation to OmiΕ‘alj. On our way we have a chance to swim in the bay of Soline. A cheerful evening meal on board the boat gives you time to celebrate the success of the week with fellow travelers and tour guides.

    Day 8 OmiΕ‘alj (Disembarkation)

After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am. and individual trip home.

    Good to know
    • Itinerary changes: We reserve the right to make changes to the itinerary, depending on wind and weather conditions or organizational requirements. Sometimes the tour will be conducted in reverse order. You will find further details in your booking information package.
    • Language: Due to our international audience all Islandhopping tours are conducted bilingually, in English and German.
    • Level 4 / 5: Cycling tours through hilly to mountainous terrain with some steeper ascents of up to approximately 400 meters. Requires confident riding on winding descents, uneven asphalt, and occasionally gravel paths. Suitable for experienced cyclists accustomed to longer daily stages.
      • Distance: 30 – 50 km km per day
      • Elevation: 400 – 700 meters of elevation per day
      • Road conditions: The roads are mostly paved and experience little traffic outside of the holiday season. On the island of Krk, a short section runs over unpaved gravel and forest paths. On the island of LoΕ‘inj, the tour follows a narrow seaside promenade where especially cautious and controlled riding is required.
      • Traffic: Traffic can be expected in and around coastal towns. Some sections on the islands of Cres and Krk also have slightly higher traffic.
      • Infrastructure: There are no designated bike paths in Kvarner Bay, so the bike tours take place on public roads, preferably on quiet side streets.
    • Group riding pace: On our e-bike tour programs, the riding pace is determined by the cyclists on e-bikes. Guests who are taking part on these tours on a gravel bicycle should have the necessary physical condition to keep up with this pace. We thank you for your understanding.
    • Relevant for all levels: Safe cycling skills and familiarity with road traffic are prerequisites for taking part in our tours. Anyone renting an e-bike should already have experience and be confident in handling e-bikes, as these bikes are significantly heavier and faster than conventional bikes.
    • Individual cycling: This tour is primarily a guided group tour. Upon consultation with your tour guides, the possibility to cycle on your own along recommended, suitable routes, may present itself. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned bike tour.
    • Requirement to wear a helmet: Helmets are mandatory on our bike tours. It is advised to bring your own, well fitted, helmet with you as our rental helmet numbers are limited (reservation required).
    • Children We believe that only children with a good physical condition and previous bicycle tour experience and a minimum age of 10 are able to master the cycle tours with their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental e-bike is 1.50 m (4.9 ft.). Follow-me bikes, bike seats and bike Bungees can also be hired for accompanying children. Our reservation experts are happy to provide you with more detailed information on request. It is mandatory for all participants on our tours to wear a bicycle helmet. When travelling with children, we recommend our Multi-Adventure Tours in Greece and Croatia which are specifically curated for families and offer family-friendly pricing.
    • Catering The on-board chef is a member of the crew and prepares the breakfast and one or two warm meals a day. Catering starts with the dinner on the arrival day and ends with the breakfast on the departure day. The catering consists of 2 x full board and 5 x half board.
    • Our ships Please do not forget that the ship is your hotel as well as a machine, which has to be maintained and operated – day and night. A certain level of noise is therefore inevitable.

      Croatia islands with Andela Lora

β€œFirst time sailing / biking in the Croatia islands. This is our second Boat Bike Tour. We were sailing on the β€œβ€Kvarner Bay and Islands”” tour on the Andela Lora ship. Late July 2024. Technically, apparently this was an β€œβ€IslandHopping”” tour, which Boat Bike Tours recently acquired… The ship is a nicer larger ship β€” 17 cabins and up to 34 people. In late July, this cruise was only half full β€” 4 English speaking couples – 3 German speaking couples and a local Croatian couple. Turns out this time of year is pretty warm so not as popular perhaps for boating / biking. If we had had all 17 cabins filled, that would’ve been a bit more crowded on the ship. The rooms on the ship struggled to keep cool during the day and at night with the room A/C units β€” so some degree of difficulty to fall asleep. Not awful, but definitely notice’able. The ship crew was friendly, albeit most did not speak with the passengers much. The waiter for each day was also friendly and talked with us – but seemed more β€œβ€alone”” on the ship. Interesting interactions. The two bike tour guides were super funny and approach’able. All of the days announcements were done in the two languages – English and German – which of course wasn’t a big deal at all – but there were definitely β€œβ€two separate groups”” on the ship. The meals on the ship were good – served either buffet style or family style. The bar was β€œβ€ok”” β€” limited space on the ship / bar area so we often would purchase personal drinks on shore (silly things like ice tea or coke zero…). Wine was available on the ship for purchase and was good to have at dinner each night. The Adriatic Sea was amazing β€” crystal clear and not cold at all. Many days ended with a swim off the back of the boat to cool off and relax. I wish they had told us to bring easy small floatation devices so we could float around longer. The bike tours on the islands were very well selected. Most everyone was using an electric assist bike since many of the islands had some big uphills to navigate. Some of the biking was on roads with cars zooming by, but in general the locals knew how to give the bikers space. The islands themselves were fascinating β€” with little pockets of towns or beach areas for vacationers. This trip avoided most of the really big cities which was very nice. Sometimes we felt like we were just speeding through the country-side and the islands. There were a number of cool spots along the way which we would have liked to have stopped to learn more about them. Course, the two bike guides did say β€œβ€stop if you want to stop!””. :- ) All in all, a good tour. We would go back for another different Croatia islands tour in the future.”

      Beyond all expectations

We travelled as a group of four Girls. This trip was beyond our expectations, We really had the most amazing trip. We couldn’t have dreamt of anything more perfect. The boat was fabulous, the food delicious and plenty of it it, the staff and organisers where absolutely amazing and very professional. Special thanks to Kristofor, Kreso,Mario & Aron you all worked so hard to make our holiday perfect, thank you so much. We really couldn’t have wished for anymore. Just one negative……..The bar bill. Wish you had listed the price of a glass of wine, it came as a big shock at the end of the week. We learnt from others when it was too late that we could have paid for a bottle and stored it in your fridge.
