Discover our limited seasonal offers and travel Europe at its most beautiful
Find your tourCrystal-clear waters, lush green hills, and charming harbor towns lined with whitewashed houses – the Sporades are among the most beautiful island groups in the Aegean. And once you arrive, it’s clear: these islands have a character all their own. While many Greek islands are known for their rugged, rocky landscapes, the Sporades surprise with their rich greenery. Pine forests stretch right down to the coastline, hidden coves invite you in for a swim, and small chapels sit perched on hilltops with sweeping views across the sea. One of the most rewarding ways to explore this island world is by E-bike and boat. Active cycling tours alternate with relaxed cruising between islands – a perfect blend of movement, nature, and that unmistakable Mediterranean sense of ease.

The Sporades are scattered across the Aegean Sea just off the coast of Thessaly, near the Pelion Peninsula. This island group is made up of more than twenty islands, four of which are permanently inhabited: Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos, and Skyros.
Unlike many other Greek islands, the Sporades are known for their lush, green landscapes. Dense pine forests, olive groves, and Mediterranean flora shape the scenery, creating a striking contrast to the more rugged, arid islands elsewhere in Greece. Mountains, hidden coves, and the turquoise waters of the Aegean come together to form a setting that feels tailor-made for nature lovers and active travelers.
The islands gained international fame as the filming location for the Hollywood adaptation of Mamma Mia!, starring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan. Much of the movie was shot on Skopelos, whose picturesque beaches and whitewashed chapels have been drawing visitors from around the world ever since.
And yet, despite this spotlight, the Sporades have managed to retain their authentic charm. Life here moves at a gentler pace, far removed from the crowds of Greece’s more developed destinations. Instead of large resort complexes, you’ll find small harbor towns, traditional tavernas, and a relaxed, easygoing atmosphere.
All of which makes the Sporades a near-perfect setting for an Islandhopping adventure—perhaps aboard the elegant twin-masted motor sailor Erato, gliding from one island to the next through this lush corner of the Aegean.

There are ships that simply take you from one port to the next. And then there are ships that turn the journey itself into something truly special. The luxury yacht Erato is firmly in the latter category.
Traveling through the lush island world of the Sporades aboard her, it quickly becomes clear: this isn’t about large cruise liners or anonymous travel. It’s about a more personal, stylish, and relaxed way to experience Islandhopping.
With a maximum of just 14 guests on board, the atmosphere remains warm and intimate. Before long, everyone knows each other—sharing stories from the day’s adventures and watching the sun dip into the Aegean together. The crew knows guests by name and goes above and beyond to make everyone feel completely at home.
The tastefully designed cabins offer a peaceful retreat, while up on deck the deep blue sea drifts by. Another highlight is the onboard cuisine: chef Stavros delights guests with Mediterranean specialties made from fresh, regional ingredients. When asked about the secret behind his cooking, he simply smiles and says, “My most important ingredient is love.”

Many journeys through the Sporades begin on Skiathos, the most well-known island in the group. Easy to reach and home to over sixty beaches, it offers everything from long stretches of golden sand to small, hidden coves perfect for a quiet swim.
Skiathos also has plenty to offer culturally. The hilltop Monastery of Evangelistria plays an important role in Greek history—it was here that the first Greek flag was raised. Islandhoppers can also look forward to a wine tasting at the local Parissis winery, where award-winning wines are paired with sweeping panoramic views.
In the evening, a stroll through the lively harbor town is a must. Cafés, traditional tavernas, and charming boutiques capture the essence of Mediterranean island life.

Just a short cruise away lies Skopelos, often described as the greenest island in the Sporades. Its landscape is shaped by pine forests, olive groves, and charming mountain villages.
Winding roads lead through rolling hills, opening up to breathtaking panoramic views along the coast. Scattered across the island, you’ll find countless small churches and chapels—each adding to Skopelos’ unmistakable character.
Film lovers may recognize a few familiar scenes: parts of Mamma Mia! were filmed here. Most iconic is the famous wedding chapel perched dramatically on a rocky outcrop high above the deep blue sea. But even without its Hollywood fame, Skopelos feels like a true Mediterranean paradise.
One of the highlights is an evening in the harbor of Skopelos Town. Whitewashed houses climb the hillside in terraces, while fishing boats and sailing yachts gently sway in the port. In the tavernas, fresh fish and local specialties are served—perfect for unwinding after an active day.

Alonissos is a true haven for nature lovers. The island is home to the National Marine Park of Alonissos, one of the largest protected marine areas in Europe.
The surrounding waters are rich in wildlife, providing a habitat for dolphins, sea turtles, and even the rare Mediterranean monk seal.
Cycling on Alonissos is all about peace and quiet. The roads are lightly trafficked, and many routes wind their way through fragrant pine forests.
A special highlight is a visit to the old village of Alonissos Chora, perched high above the sea. From this picturesque spot, you’re rewarded with breathtaking views over the island’s dramatic cliffs and the open Aegean beyond.

The Sporades are ideal for cycling holidays in Greece, offering diverse landscapes and the option to extend your journey with a detour to the Pelion Peninsula or even Euboea, Greece’s second-largest island.
