About this tour

Croatia has a beautiful coast with thousands of islands, reefs and bays. Numerous romantic ruins, charming hills, countless natural beauties are waiting to be discovered.

The National Parks of Dalmatia bicycle cruise is one of our easiest tour. We invite you to spend a week by boat and bike between the mainland and the islands. Delicious cuisine, beautiful sites, a friendly crew, and knowledgeable tour guides await your arrival. Starting in Trogir, we visit two National Parks as well as the islands of Central Dalmatia.

Highlights of the tour include UNESCO protected old town of Trogir, Primošten, Šibenik, with its famous cathedral, and Zadar, as well as the National Park Krka-Waterfalls, and the Kornati Islands. On a romantic motor yacht, our floating accommodation for the week, we discover the charm of the Adriatic in this wonderful way.

This tour will often be operated on the same boat as the mountain bike cruise “Highlights of Istria” and one tour guide attends trekking bike group while the other one leads the mountain bike group. The mountain bike products are only available to guests who participate in these offroad mountain bike trails, more information about these offroad trails can be found on the website of our brand Islandhopping.

Parallel to some of our National Parks of Dalmatia tour dates we are also offering the National Parks of Dalmatia PLUS tour with one of the first class ships. On this tour E-bike- rides are conducted parallel – the itinerary is similar. Therefore the PLUS tours would be the perfect alternative if the desired tour date on the regular tour is already fully booked or if you are looking for a tour on an even more luxury boat.

The ship – Your sailing hotel
In between cycling excursions, you cruise along with the ship, which travels to a new destination every day. You will sleep and have breakfast and 1 or 2 warm meals on board. Depending on the program, this will be lunch or dinner. The other meal is ashore (not included). It’s possible to spend a day on board if you like. There are rental bikes on board, but you can also bring your own if you mention it when booking.

Day to day program

All distances are “approximate distances” of recommended bike tours.

The tour details are barring changes, a.o. as a result of nautical, technical or meteorological reasons. We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements. If necessary the tour will be operated in reverse.

Day 1: Trogir (Embarkation) – Rogoznica

Individual arrival either by car to Trogir or by plane to Split. After checking in on the motor yacht between 2 and 2:30 pm at Trogir your first cruise starts at 3 pm leading you to Rogoznica – a village on a small island which is connected to the mainland by a dam. Here you also spend our first night.

Day 2: Rogoznica – Vodice | Vodice – Island of Murter (aprx. 26 km/17 mi.) | – Nature Park Telašćica

In the morning we enjoy our breakfast during a morning cruise to the seaside city of Vodice. From here we start our bike tour to the island of Murter, connected to the mainland by the lift bridge at Tisno. We cycle over the bridge and along the waterfront, passing by two very old coastal villages, until we reach a small jetty. From here, we enjoy a spectacular cruise through the National Park Kornati, an archipelago in crystal clear water which is known for its rich aquatic life, until we reach the Telašćica Nature Park. In the evening, we take a walk through the park and along the island’s stunning cliffs. A salt lake and a family of donkey also characterise the nature park and make for a wonderful location to spend a quiet night.

Day 3: Island of Dugi Otok (aprx. 19 mi. / 32 km) | Dugi Otok – Zadar

After breakfast we start our bike tour from the Telašćica Nature Park, along a virtually traffic-free, panoramic road across the island. During the ride we’re treated to countless unforgettable views of neighbouring islands, breaking through the deep blue sea. We meet the ship in Brbinj and board for a crossing to the city of Zadar, which for centuries was the political, cultural, and spiritual centre of Dalmatia. Once we arrive, there is the opportunity to take part in a walking tour during which you will find out all about this fascinating city while strolling through the winding alleys and the lively old town, characterised by 3,000 years of history. The night is spent in Zadar.

Day 4: Islands of Ugljan and Pašman – Šibenik) (aprx. 20 mi/33 km)

During breakfast the ship crosses the channel of Zadar to the island of Ugljan. Today we have plenty of time to cycle across and explore both of the islands Ugljan and Pašman, connected by a bridge, with their quain villages characterized by stone cottages and fishing vessels. We cycle along the East Coast, always with beautiful views to the mainland and the sea.
After our bike tour, we visit the coastal city of Šibenik and stay there for the night.

Day 5: Šibenik – Skradin – National Park of Krka (apprx. 20 mi./32 km)

Today is a real highlight! After the morning crossing to Skradin, located at the foot of the Krka Canyon, we explore this area by bike. In the afternoon, we take a small boat to the Krka National Park where have plenty of time to explore the unique and truly spectacular Krka Waterfalls on foot. The night is spent in the postcard town of Skradin.

Day 6: Skradin – Primošten (aprx. 17 mi./28 km)

Enjoy your breakfast on a morning cruise to Primošten. Relax and enjoy your stay on board. After a swimming stop the lunch is served on board. Today’s cycle tour starts in the afternoon from Primošten, first to Rogoznica and then back to Primošten. You will spend the night in the harbor there and have some time to explore the town.

Day 7: Island of Solta (aprx. 9 mi./15 km) | Solta – Trogir

In the morning our motor yacht takes us to the island of Solta. Olive and fig trees and farmland surround the streets. The spicy smell of rosemary will follow you throughout the whole tour around the silent island until we reach the village Grohote. During mid day our last cruise takes us back to Trogir. Here we have enough time to visit the UNESCO World Heritage old town. Our last dinner gives us time to reminisce on the week that past and to say goodbye to fellow travellers, the crew, and tour guides.

Day 8: Trogir (Disembarkation)

After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home or extended stay in Croatia.

Good to know
  • Itinerary changes We reserve the right to make changes to the itinerary, depending on wind and weather conditions or organizational requirements. Sometimes the tour will be conducted in reverse order. You will find further details in your booking information package.
  • Language Due to our international audience all Islandhopping tours are conducted bilingually, in English and German.
  • Level 3 / 5: Cycling tours through gently rolling terrain with ascents of up to approximately 200 meters. Suitable for cyclists who enjoy multi-hour tours and can confidently handle descents.
    • Distance: 20 – 35 km per day
    • Elevation: 200 – 400 meters of elevation per day
    • Road conditions: The roads are mostly asphalted and there is little traffic outside of holiday periods.
    • Traffic: Traffic is to be expected in and around coastal towns. The island of Pašman also has some road sections with slightly higher traffic.
    • Infrastructure: There are no designated bike paths in Dalmatia, so the bike tours take place on public roads, preferably on quiet side streets.
  • Relevant for all levels: Safe cycling skills and familiarity with road traffic are prerequisites for taking part in our tours. All tours, including the elevation gains, can be mastered more easily with electronic assistance. Anyone renting an e-bike should already have experience and be confident in handling e-bikes, as these bikes are significantly heavier and faster than conventional bikes.
  • Individual cycling: This tour is primarily a guided group tour. Upon consultation with your tour guides, the possibility to cycle on your own along recommended, suitable routes, may present itself. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned bike tour.
  • Group riding pace: On our regular cycling tours, the cyclists on regular bicycles determine the pace. We ask guests who have reserved an e-bike to be mindful of this and to acknowledge that the regular cyclists need time to rest and take longer to climb the hills. We thank you for your understanding.
  • Requirement to wear a helmet Helmets are mandatory on our bike tours. It is advised to bring your own, well fitted, helmet with you as our rental helmet numbers are limited (reservation required).
  • Bringing Children We believe that only children with a good physical condition and previous bicycle tour experience and a minimum age of 10 are able to master the cycle tours with their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.30 m (4.3 ft.) for hybrid bikes and 1.50 m (5 ft.) for e-bikes. In Croatia there is a helmet duty for all children up to age 16.
  • Catering The on-board chef is a member of the crew and prepares the breakfast and one or two warm meals a day. Catering starts with the dinner on the arrival day and ends with the breakfast on the departure day. The catering consists of 2 x full board and 5 x half board.
  • Our ships Please do not forget that the ship is your hotel as well as a machine, which has to be maintained and operated – day and night. A certain level of noise is therefore inevitable.

We were group of 12 people (6 couples). For us this was a trip where all crew members absolutly were performing fantastically and we are really happy to have had the opportunity to participate. Ivan our captain did have a great overview of the situation at any time, with a fantastic support from Miro and Marko. Our guieds, Lucija and Nikita did absolutely deliver a fantastic job securing all participants bicycleing through the great sceneries of Croatian landscape, and safely bring the whole group back to the boat. Zvonimir our bartender, did safe our lives from dehydration and starving with the great crew in kitchen Ivan and Bosiljka. Perfect combination of sailing, swimming, cyckling, history, eating, (drinking) and dancing. Again thanks to all the crew and guieds for a great time and fantastic service during our stay and we will definitely recommend Romantica and/or similar trips to our friends. Best regards from the Icelandic team.
