I am awaiting notice from BBT that my scheduled May cycling cruise is cancelled. According to the Dutch government’s additional measures to combat the coronavirus outbreak (March 23), tighter restrictions will make it impossible for BBT to satisfy my traveler package contract. The General Traveller Terms for Package Travel Arrangements of Boat Bike Tours B.V is governed by Directive (EU) 2015/2302 wherein: “…if the organizer (i.e. Boat Bike Tours) cancels the sale before the start of a customer’s travel package, as a traveller, you are entitled to a full refund of any payments made. The Directive continues stating that if the cancellation by the organiser (i.e. Boat Bike Tours) is due to exceptional circumstances (One Directive example used – “significant risk to human health such as an outbreak of a serious disease at the travel destination…”) you are entitled to a full refund of any payments you’ve made but you are not entitled to additional compensation. BBT’s current refund policy is to charge at least 40% of the original travel sum as cancellation costs. This is clearly a violation of law! I have used BBT many times in the past to great satisfaction. This is indeed a time of exceptional circumstance! However, it can’t be a time to violate the law.

Bike and boat propose soit de replanifier sans frais pour les tours prévus sur 2020, soit de reprogrammer le voyage plus tard (plus de 365 jours) et demande le paiement de 250 euros par personne extra ! soit d’annuler le voyage (ce qui est déjà fait de leur propre intitative) en retenant 40% du prix total du voyage ! ou de trouver une autre personne qui accepte le rachat du voyage. Nous avons payé 1398 euros pour 5 jours de voyage. Ils retiennent donc 560 euros sur les sommes payées, sans avoir fourni aucun service. A la suite de cette annonce le 17 mars, j’ai envoyé 3 mails (sur info et service desk), et je n’ai reçu aucun retour de leur part. Dans mon cas personnel, j’ai demandé le report gratuit (au-delà de 365 jours puisque nous ne sommes intéressés que par la saison des tulipes). J’ai également demandé, puisqu’ils conservent notre paiement total jusqu’à la saison prochaine, un voucher de dédommagement et un accès prioritaire aux réservations. Aucune réaction de leur part. Tous nos voyages sont annulés jusqu’à début juin : 5 jours à Valence du 18 au 22 mars : appartement prépayé, visites guidées, et vols avec SN Brussels airlines sont remboursés 3 jours à vélo en France en avril : le prestataire rembourse la totalité 5 jours à Cracovie fin avril : hôtel, visites, food tour et vols remboursés Une semaine à l’île de Man début juin : les tickets de ferry, la location d’une moto, les hôtels et camping sont remboursés. Si la situation est revenue à la normale d’ici là, il est probable cependant que les billets d’avion soient perdus. Nous demandons à la compagnie de permettre soit le remboursement de toutes les sommes perçues, soit de permettre un rebooking et d’offrir un voucher en compensation. Si Bike & boat ne revoit pas ces conditions, les éventuels futurs clients doivent être avertis de la politique $$$$$ de cette compagnie. Nous avions participé à l’un de leur voyages en Croatie il y a quelques années. Dans ces conditions, nous ne voyagerons plus jamais avec cet opérateur, et nous le ferons savoir autour de nous.

Wir haben das erste Mal eine Boat & Bike Tour mit der MS Nassau gemacht. Der öffentliche Bereich vom Schiff wurde sehr schön renoviert. Die Kabinen dagegen sind nur teilweise renoviert. Sie sind nur ca. 10 m² groß (incl. Bad). Zu zweit kann man kaum in der Kabine stehen. In unsere Kabine hat es nach Diesel gestunken. Bei Schiffsreisen ist das aber kein Reisemangel. Auch würde ich das nächste Mal unbedingt Ohrstöpsel mitnehmen, da um 5:45 Uhr der kleine Generator zwecks Stromversorgung gestartet wird. Leider gibt es auf dem gesamten Schiff keinen Fernseher. Den braucht man zwar nicht unbedingt, aber manchmal wäre es ganz gut. Nun zum Positiven. Magaret war eine tolle Reiseleiterin. Die Touren waren vorbildlich geplant. Man konnte sich meistens zwischen einer kleineren Runde und einer großen Runde ca. 50 km entscheiden. Manchmal war die Zeit zu knapp, da das Schiff bereits um 15 Uhr abgelegt hat. Die Fahrräder waren wie neu. Das Material (Fahrradkarte, Satteltasche, Trinkflasche usw.) war super. Holland ist ein tolles Fahrradland. Wir haben viel gesehen. Das Essen auf dem Schiff war auch sehr lecker. Bis auf die Kabine kann ich nichts beanstanden. Fazit: Ich würde so eine Reise wieder machen, aber nicht mit diesem Schiff. Wir haben am letzten Abend die MS Holland besichtigt. Dieses Schiff ist wirklich toll renoviert worden. Jede Kabine hat einen Flachbildfernsehr und um das Ehebett kann man rumgehen. Ich glaube nicht, dass hier die 10 m² Kabinengröße mit Bad ist. Der Preis ist nur 50 € mehr als wir bezahlt haben. Die Gäste von der MS Holland waren auch am letzten Abend von Ihrer Reise begeistert!

This is one of the best trips that we have ever taken. Everything about it was better than we expected. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, and our guides were super people. This is an excellent way to have an active and scenic vacation and we are very much looking forward to our next boat and biking tour.

Overall my wife and I where very pleased with the tour. The food was great as where the tour leaders.

Great attention to details, and good value. Would schedule another trip without hesitation.

Myself and our group where very impressed with our tour. The description of the tour was accurate. The guides where professional, informative and felt like family by the end of the week. The same with the boat crew. Little changes were made to the tour to adjust for the weather and the groups preferences. We liked swimming after our rides so they scheduled more swimming time. Food was good, healthy and gave a good sample of local dishes. Given what we got the tour represented good value. A little over half of the group had e-bikes. I would recommend this unless you are used to biking hills and in pretty good shape. It is a great way to see the Ionian islands and get a feel for that area of Greece. I recommend the tour.

Our boat and bike tour of the Ionian islands was excellent in all ways. Our guides (Katarina and Costas) were knowledgeable, helpful, and fun. The riding was fairly strenuous, but enjoyable. My husband and I agreed that if we had it to do over, we would consider e-bikes, but it was still pleasurable riding without them. The scenery everyday was outstanding! The cook prepared delicious Greek food on the boat, and the staff was always attentive. We appreciated seeing and spending time on the different islands, and also appreciated the recommendations for restaurants and shopping. I particularly enjoyed our daily swims. The time of year we went was ideal (early to mid October) as the weather was perfect, and there weren’t many tourists. I would definitely recommend this trip!!

This was my 4th bike/barge trip and it was the best in every aspect. The Quo Vadis was the nicest barge with the biggest bedrooms and baths.The guides and crew were personable and very helpful. The ride along the Moselle was breathtaking. Thank you for a great trip all around.

Your group was wonderful. If only you could have controlled the weather. Lol.
