This tour was excellent from start to finish. Great value for money. The hosts and guides were very helpful and friendly. The bike routes were very thoughtfully chosen. Food on board was excellent.

Very good tour. Boat was a bit spartan for me.
Dear mister Botts, We are happy you enjoyed your time during the Hanseatic tour. Our fleet consists of more than 20 ships, varying from simple to very luxurious. The gandalf is more basic, maybe for a next tour you can choose one of our premium ships? We would like to inform you about all the possibilities. On our website and in the travel information you can find all the information ánd photos our fleet. Team Boat Bike Tours.

We enjoyed our trip – here is some advice: If traveling intercontinental arrive a day or two early to shake off the jet lag. The food is very good, recommend that you are very specific with likes and dislikes on the pre-cruise questionnaire. Chef Frank prepared dishes with lots of flavor from garlic, cilantro, curry, mushrooms, chorizo etc. We were delighted. Rooms are small of course, pack light. There are racks for drying laundry on the deck. Bikes are well maintained and easy to ride. This is not an itinerary for a novice rider. You should be ready for long climbs and steep downhills. Totally worth it. This s a trip for people who are social, low maintenance, and willing to work through language differences to get to know their fellow passengers. There is a selection of board games and playing cards aboard for after dinner entertainment.
Thanks very much for your review and for your recommendations to other guests. Team Boat Bike Tours.

We were extremely happy with the service that we received from the Boat’s Captain and crew of the Zwaantje. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about our Tour Guide, Geert. From the first day of the tour we found him to be inadequately prepared on the City (Paris) we were visiting. As most of the passengers had already been to the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe etc, Geert suggested a tour of 3 parks which he advised he had visited in advance and would show us some interesting architecture and historical buildings. Unfortunately, Geert had us all buy the wrong train tickets and got lost several times which resulted in our spending a large proportion of the day in the Metro stations and arguing with the train staff over the tickets purchased. The parks were nothing special and there was not much to see which resulted in the Sunday in Paris being a total waste of time. I still don’t understand why the Sunday cannot be a cycle day from Paris to Lagny-sur-Marne or even a portion of this – we could spend the morning on the boat and start cycling from outside of Paris. Geert’s favourite sentence during the week was “they will be closed” – he was not open to suggestions to phone ahead and check, or to stop into the villages that we cycled through. He was only interested in stopping for lunch and at the booked Brie tasting and Champagne tasting. The two restaurants that he said he had phoned ahead to make arrangements that we could stop for coffee / lunch were closed when we arrived. He was constantly getting lost, even on leaving the boat on the one morning he took the wrong route. When we entered the Champagne region and cycled past open Champagne houses which had signs outside saying “Accueil” or “Ouvrir” he did not wish to stop saying “they wont be open”, and when I explained that on a previous trip to Champagne that we had received welcome from Champagne houses like this, he proceeded to argue saying, “clearly you think you know more than me”. This resulted in our cycling on our own for a majority of the route (i.e. without Geert) and yes we did stop at champagne houses who welcomed us very warmly. Geert told us about the Museum of Jean de la Fontaine in Chateau-Thierry as a place of interest, but when we wanted to go there he told us they would be closed. Once again, we went to the museum which was open. In closing, we were very disappointed that Boat Bike Tours would use a tour guide who had very to little (almost no) knowledge of the area, and one that is confrontational and obstinate. This was our third Bike and Barge tour, and the second with Boat Bike Tours, and we have never experienced anything quite like this. It is due to Geert’s poor behaviour that I do not feel I can rate the trip higher than 3.
Thank you for your feed-back. We are glad to hear you are happy with the service of the barge crew on Zwaantje. We are very sorry to hear that the way the tour was guided was so disappointing. We can’t change your experience anymore. We have already had contact by email and we sure hope that this experience will not keep you from sailing with us again. Team Boat Bike Tours.

Wonderful boat and bike tour. This was a holiday we will never forget. Our barge, The Manifique II, was well appointed and immaculate. The trip was made even more pleasant since the barge was staffed by helpful, friendly people who always greeted us with a smile. The chef was gifted, serving the most delicious dinners. Arie and Corrie, our guides, took us into parts of the country that we would never have seen without their leadership. Our fellow cyclist made the trip with their friendly attitudes and ready laughter. We will cherish the memories of our tour with Boat and Bike always.
Dear Nora and Rick, thanks so much for you loving words. We will forward your compliments to the staff and to the tourguides Arie and Corrie. Team Boat Bike Tours.

We had a fabulous time – a lovely boat – simple, but well maintained and comfortable with a friendly crew. My only complaint was the cook was rather uneven at dinner time. Our first dinner was wonderful, but it seemed to go downhill from there. It was never terrible, just didn’t maintain the standards of the first night.
Thanks for your review about the Tulip Tour. We will forward your feedback about the dinners to the cook. We hope we can welcome you again. Team Boat Bike Tours.

Comfortable tasteful vessel. Spacious, really roomy, well appointed cabin. Competent, professional, friendly guides. Helpful friendly crew. Good basic food. Excellent drink packages. Well designed cycling routes with good options for short and longer rides. Well documented navigation aides and effective phone app. Bikes well maintained. Always ran to schedule. Lucked out with compatible table guests and enjoyed the social interaction. In all “De Amsterdam” was a wonderful way of exploring a very beautiful, bike friendly country.

Thanks to all aboard the L’Estello for the wonderful week we had with our friends, old and new. We had a thoroughly enjoyable week with lots of fun and laughter, managing to strike a fabulous balance between bike riding, site seeing, eating, drinking and even some very funny dancing on the deck one night. The crew were amazing, making our holiday one that we will talk about for years to come. Thank you for all your hospitality and hard work, our ‘adventure before dementia’ was truly memorable …. at least it will be until the dementia sets in :)
Wow Kristine and Mark, thanks for your loving words! We wil forward them to the crew on board. Team Boat Bike Tours.

The holiday exceeded my expectations in every respect and I had a really great time. The boat, although old had been refurbished and was very comfortable and each room had its own en-suite facilities which included a shower compartment with a folding door! The catering was remarkably good given the size of the galley kitchen and again was much better than I had anticipated. The Skipper was amazingly competent and great fun. I hope to return to enjoy another holiday as soon as the diary permits.
Dear John, thanks very much for your 5starreview. Great you enjoyed your time on this Sail&Bike trip. We hope we can welcome you again. Team Boat Bike Tours.
