This is our seventh tour with Boat and Bike and I want to tell you about some disappointments this time.
The bikes have changed to be blue from the earlier bikes that were orange. The blue bikes were very heavy to ride whereas the orange bikes were very good to ride. The orange bikes were so good to ride that riders that have accompanied us in the past have made comments that they would like one to take home. Some of these have been experienced, but weaker riders.
On this tour we found the blue bikes to be very heavy to ride. On shallow rises in the pathway, the bikes were very heavy to ride up the slope even on the lowest gear setting. These slopes would be ridden with ease on our bikes at home and on the orange bikes that you once supplied. The simplest answer is that the single chain wheel is too big. That is a smaller number of teeth on the chainwheel would make it easier.
Electric bikes are available, but I do not use and will not use an electric bike to mask what I consider a design error.

There were many accidents on the bikes over the tour which started in Amsterdam (or Utrecht) for us. In all of the five tours that we have taken in the past, we cannot remember any accidents. In all of these accidents it seemed to be inexperienced riders that were involved.

These comments have been given to you to highlight what we found to be factors that reduced our pleasure in the ride.

The rides were beautiful, the guides informative and helpful, food was amazing, rooms were comfortable. The optional length rides and extra add-ons worked out well.

The whole experience was wonderful, from the crew, to the guides, the meals, and most importantly the cycling through the beautiful countryside.

This trip surpassed our expectations in many ways.
The goal of my husband and I was to show our American Family of 19, the part of Holland where I was born. We visited several of my siblings families on the way, which was incredible as they also made great effort to accommodate us. Cousins met cousins they did not know they had. We were also able to meet some on board the ship and show them around. We had chartered the entire ship of 10 cabins, which was a great format for this family trip.
In addition to the personal family experiences we all enjoyed seeing the countryside from our bikes. Every day had its special adventures that appealed to young and old, and that our kids and grandkids still talk about.
The accommodations were nice and mealtimes were a highlight. Our bicycle guide was super nice and she always found interesting places to stop to tell a story. We averaged approximately 20 miles a day, which was doable for even the youngest (age 9) as well as the oldest (age 83).
The crew was very accommodating and they made us feel special.
This trip was truly the best ever for us, as we celebrated our 55th anniversary, good health and happiness.

This trip was everything I had hoped for and more. The rides, the boat, the crew, the other guests, made it a perfect experience. Chrisya and Esther were knowledgeable, entertaining, and made sure everyone was having the best possible experience. I can’t wait to do another trip,

Everything about this bike and boat tour was exceptional! The accommodations on the ship were beautiful, the meals were incredible, the bike guides explained everything in detail, so we knew what to expect. The staff gave us great service. This is a great tour even if you aren’t a cyclist. We made great new friends and loved beautiful Croatia!! Highly recommend!

This was our 13th Boat Bike Tour and we both agree that the Arkona ship was very comfortable. The staff were exceptional and the food was delicious.

Our group is thankful that we have cruised two times previously with Boat Bike Tours. Our previous experience biking in Holland made this trip doable.
SE Tours assigned us a German speaking guide who had never ridden these routes. It’s not the guide’s fault. We place the responsibility on SE Tours. It was unacceptable.

The trip was a wonderful balance of countryside, towns and cities. We had a great time exploring the old historic cities and appreciated the stops along the way. Too many great things to mention really. Our guides were wonderful, and food and accommodations were top notch. I really can’t say enough good things about the staff each and everyone were friendly, skilled and knowledgeable. Our fellow travellers whom we met on the boat were also a highlight of the trip, each and every one of 20 or so passengers were a delight to spend time with and we had a great deal of fun together!
