When it comes to reducing our CO2 footprint, we try to motivate everyone to take part—especially you, our guest!
By making just a few simple choices, you can already make a difference. Below are the best ways you can travel more sustainably:

Before your trip
- Choose low-impact transportation (such as the train) to reach your port of departure.
- Offset the CO2 emissions of your flight if you are flying to a foreign port or flying into the Netherlands from another country. You can do this through organizations such as Trees for All.
- Opt for a vegetarian menu, which you can request up to 7 days before your trip.
- Read up on the local nature, culture, and history of the country you are visiting.

On board
- Keep your showers short (around 4 minutes) to save water.
- Use soap, shampoo, and sunscreen without microplastics (check www.beatthemicrobead.org).
- Skip towel changes in your cabin to minimize laundry.
- Reduce waste! Bring your own water bottle for cycling (Dutch tap water is excellent quality!) and your own lunch box for meals on the go.
- Unplug your charger once your device is fully charged.
- Turn off the lights if you are the last to leave a room.
- Separate your waste into the designated bins.
- Choose the vegetarian and/or eco-friendly option more often.

During your trip
- Respect local etiquette, the do’s and don’ts, and follow your tour leader’s tips.
- Buy souvenirs from small local vendors.
- Respect local people. Always ask before taking a photo of them.
