Biking is, to me, the best way to explore a country. The speed is perfect for taking in your surroundings and at the same time cover a good distance. I was raised in Ethiopia and Nigeria. Not countries for cycling you would think. But since my parents are Dutch I got my first bike when I got 9 years old and was allowed to take it on the roads. I started as a tour guide in 1998, fascinated by what I consider the ideal travel concept for “learning and enjoyment.” From all corners of the world travelers with the most diverse backgrounds come together at our barge/boats and share their interests together to explore with cycling, cities and the country Holland. It is fun to see a new group of travelers of all ages and nationalities arrive on board on the first day and, after a week, to see them leave as friends. For me, biking and sailing is the perfect mix: being active on the bike and relaxing onboard, in towns and villages.
