I was raised in Ethiopia and Nigeria. Not countries for cycling you would think. But since my parents are Dutch I got my first bike when I got 9 years old and was allowed to take it on the roads. Very liberal-minded and trusting parents, maybe another typical Dutch thing? And yes, I love biking, I love taking people on tours and showing them beautiful landscapes and interesting towns. And whenever possible, I will share some fun-facts on history and culture. I also go on biking-tours with my family and when on holidays in Asia or Africa I typically join guided biking-trips and let the local tour leader take me through their country. There’s no better way of getting in touch with the locals, experiencing the culture as well as getting some exercise.
Since I never lived in the Nertherlands and because my entire education was in German language I am sometimes called (teasingly) the ‘German’ by colleagues. Anyways, in 2022, after more than 30 years of working mostly in operations, finance & admin I finally bowed to my passion started working as a tour leader for BBT. I will never regret it.
