The ship – Your sailing hotel
Between bike rides, you’ll cruise along with the ship, which travels to a new destination every day. You’ll dine, sleep and eat breakfast on board and you’ll receive a packed lunch every day. It’s also possible to spend a day on board if you’d like. There are rental bikes on board, but you can also bring your own (only on request).
Perfect for more experienced cyclists
With a detailed map of the area and a suggested route for close-range explorations, you’ll decide each day where you’ll go and how fast to ride. Each evening, the ship’s crew will introduce you to the next day’s bike route, explaining the difficult parts, offering tips about the best places to stop for a drink or lunch, and pointing out the sightseeing highlights. In case of emergencies or problems, the crew can be contacted. But since the ship will be sailing to the next port while you bike, they can only offer assistance by phone.
Day 1: Bamberg – Embarkation
Take the opportunity before boarding to enjoy a relaxed stroll through the city. Perhaps visit the cathedral, walk along the Regnitz River, or try your first Franconian beer in one of the traditional taverns. Welcome to Bamberg!
The crew welcomes you on board from 4 p.m.
Day 2: Bamberg – Erlangen (approx. 45 km/ 28 mi.)
Your first cycling day starts in Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A Franconian beauty, Bamberg is full of medieval charm, with its narrow lanes and famous old town. From Bamberg, you’ll cycle through the meadow landscapes of the Regnitz Valley, stopping in Forchheim – a small and welcoming Franconian town – before finishing your ride in Erlangen.
Day 3: Erlangen – Nuremberg (approx. 30 km/18.6 mi.)
Today’s route takes you through flat landscapes and sandy pine forests, past river meadows shaded by tall oaks entwined with wild hops. Passing Fürth – a detour into the town is well worth it – you’ll follow the Regnitz Cycle Path past the historic “Kettensteg” and “Henkersteg” bridges to the end of today’s ride: Nuremberg. A fascinating mix of medieval charm, impressive architecture, and vibrant urban culture awaits you.
Day 4: Nuremberg – Hilpolstein (approx. 40 km/24.8 mi.)
The historic Main-Danube Canal, built under King Ludwig I and known as the Ludwig Canal, will be your constant companion today. It is one of the oldest canals in the world, offering beautiful panoramas and featuring 101 locks. Towards the end of your ride, you’ll enter the Rothsee Nature Park and reach Hilpoltstein, the gateway to the Franconian Lake District.
Day 5: Hilpoltstein – Beilngries (approx. 40 km/24.8 mi.)
Today’s bike route will take you through one of Bavaria’s most scenic landscapes: the Altmühl Valley. You’ll start in Hilpoltstein and follow the well-marked Altmühl Valley Cycle Path, riding alongside the gently winding Main-Danube Canal. Lush meadows, rugged cliffs, and historic locks line your route: a relaxed journey through nature and history. Beilngries, a charming old town with medieval flair, is the perfect ending to a wonderful day of cycling.
Day 6: Beilngries – Riedenburg (approx. 30 km/18.6 mi.)

High above the town stands the impressive Hall of Liberation: a striking monument built under King Ludwig I. After a short climb, you’ll be rewarded with wide views over the river landscape.
Next, you’ll follow the Danube to magnificent Regensburg, one of Germany’s oldest cities and, like Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Look forward to a destination rich in history, impressive architecture, and authentic Bavarian character.
