About this tour

On the Ionian Islands off the west coast of Greece, Hellas shows her greenest side: Pure nature, the crystal clear blue shimmering Ionian Sea and centuries of Venetian influences dominate the archipelago of the Ionian Islands. From Corfu, which was the dream island of the unforgettable Austrian empress Sissi, this journey leads you to regions which are not very well known abroad.

Discover by boat & bike the famous island of Ithaca which is said to have been the home of Odysseus, the unforgettable green bird sanctuary island of Lefkas, the fantastic mountain world of Cephalonia and the beautiful olive woods of the small island of Paxos.

Enjoy the stay on board of the wooden motor yacht and let yourself be pampered by the excellent Greek cuisine and the coziness of the ship!

New from 2025: On this trip, we offer you the option of either joining your guides on the cycle tours or completing the cycle routes individually at your own pace using the free RideWithGPS route app for your smartphone as well as GPS tracks and maps.

The ship – Your sailing hotel
In between cycling excursions, you cruise along with the ship, which travels to a new destination every day. You will sleep and have breakfast and 1 or 2 warm meals on board. Depending on the program, this will be lunch or dinner. The other meal is ashore (not included). It’s possible to spend a day on board if you like. There are rental bikes on board, but you can also bring your own if you mention it when booking.

Day to day program

All distances are “approximate distances” of recommended bike tours.
The tour details are barring changes, a.o. as a result of nautical, technical or meteorological reasons.

Day 1: Corfu/Corfu City (Embarkation)

Individual arrival by plane on the island of Corfu and subsequent transfer to the ship.  Check in on the Panagiota from 2 pm on. Dinner on board. Overnight stay in Corfu town.

Day 2: Corfu Island – Sivota | Sivota – Parga (aprx. 18 mi./28 km) | Parga – Island Lefkas

Cast off! In the morning we cross over to Sivota on the mainland of Greece. There our first cycle tour starts and leads us to Parga beautifully situated below a Venetian fortress which towers over the old town. Here the boat awaits us to take us on a long cruise to Nidri on Lefkas Island. On our way we pass a witty swing-bridge which connects Lefkas with the Greek mainland. You spent the night in the lively harbor of Nidri.

Day 3: Lefkas Island (aprx. 21 mi./35 km) | Sivota – Fiskardo

After breakfast we start with a short tour to a waterfall nearby Nidri. With a bit of luck enough water will tumble for us to have a refreshing swim. Afterwards we continue on quiet roads over the hills via Siyros to the picturesque harbor town of Sivota. Here we board the boat and cruise to Fiskardo on the Island of Kedalonia. Situated on the northern tip of the island, the harbor town enchants with its colorful houses and many cafes and bars along the lively waterfront promenade.

Day 4: Cephalonia Island (aprx. 25 mi./39 km) | Sami – Vathy

We leave Fiskardo by bike and climb an impressive mountain road on the west coast of Kefalonia, from which we are met by awe inspiring views over the Assos peninsula and the famous Myrtos beach. After the climb we turn inland and cross the island. Shortly before the end of the bike tour we visit the Melissani stalactite cave on board a small row boat and marvel at the incredible blue tones created by the unique cave formations, sun and water. In Sami the boat welcomes us and once on board, sets off for Vathy on Ithaka.

Day 5: Island of Ithaca (aprx. 13 or 17 mi/20 or 28 km)

In the morning we cycle on the Ithaca Island. The homeland of the mythical king Odysseus, is a hilly island with a beautiful landscape. On today’s cycle route we can enjoy the typical character of the Ionian Islands away from the beaten tourist track: gnarled olive trees, crystal clear water and friendly islanders – time appears to stand still on Ithaca. Decide for yourself, if you are up for the challenge of a true hill climb, or, if you would prefer the leisurely alternative of a panoramic ride at half the height. The Panagiota awaits our arrival in Frikes before setting off to the small island of Meganisi.

Day 6: Islands of Meganisi and Paxos (aprx. 10 mi/17 km)

Meganisi is a tiny island with lots of charm, which we explore in the morning by bicycle. The panoramic tour takes us along lonely island roads and through the three villages of the island, which give us a good impression of the traditional island life of the Greeks. At Spartochori beach we can enjoy a coffee and a swim in the sea. In the afternoon we sail to Paxos Island, whose unique natural harbor in Gaios creates a special island atmosphere. We can spend the evening in one of the cozy taverns of Gaios.

Day 7: Islands of Paxos and Corfu (aprx. 14 mi./23 km) | Paxos – Corfu town

Paxos, the smallest of the seven Ionian Islands is a grove of olive trees, which gives the island its wonderful silver green color. On today’s cycle trip we circle the island. We can have our last swim in the Mediterranean on one of the many beaches. After lunch, the Panagiota will take us back to Corfu, where we will end our journey with a dinner and a cosy get-together on board.

Day 8: Corfu / Corfu City (Disembarkation)

After breakfast, check-out and individual return home or extended stay in Greece.

Good to know

Itinerary changes
We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements.

Language
Due to our international audience all tours are conducted bilingually, in English and German.

Level 2 – 3
The cycle routes require an advanced level of fitness from the participants. The daily routes have a length of 12 – 25 mi./20 – 40 km. They lead through hilly or mountainous areas and will be completed without any time-constraints. The cycle tours will take us up to 1,000 – 2,970 ft/300 – 600 m of elevation. There are also some extended climbs where walking your bicycle is of course permitted. Most of the roads are asphalted and rarely frequented. Your tour guide informs you each day about the tour details. Helmet use is mandatory on all cycle tours. You are strongly encouraged to bring your own (well-fitted) helmet. Cycle helmets are available on board in limited number (on request). You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned cycle tour.

This tour is primarily designed as a guided group tour. After prior consultation with our tour guides and selection of a suitable route, nothing stands in the way of individual cycling. During the daily program briefings, your tour guides will explain everything you need to know about the next day’s stage. If you prefer to cycle alone rather than with a group, you can cycle the tours independently and at your own pace. For orientation, we provide you with access to the free RideWithGPS route app for your smartphone, a detailed cycle map and GPS tracks. Your guides cycle the same route as you. They are therefore close by and can be contacted by phone in case of emergencies, problems or questions. Instead of a bike tour, you can also opt for a half or full day of swimming on the boat.

Group riding pace
On our regular cycling tours, the cyclists on regular bicycles determine the pace. We ask guests who have reserved an e-bike to be mindful of this and to acknowledge that the regular cyclists need time to rest and take longer to climb the hills. We thank you for your understanding.

Children
We believe that only children in a good physical condition and with a minimum age of 10 and previous bicycle tour experience are able to master the cycle tours on their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.30 m (4.3 ft.) for hybrid bikes and 1.50 m (5ft.) for e-bikes.

Catering
The on-board chef is a member of the crew and prepares the breakfast and one or two warm meals a day. The catering starts with the dinner on the arrival day and ends with the breakfast on the departure day.

Internet availability
Please note that there is no WiFi available onboard the Panagiota. If you need to connect to the internet during the tour, we recommend to take your portable electronic device to a cafe or bar somewhere in the harbor. Free WiFi is on offer almost everywhere. If you order something to eat or drink, then you are able to use the WiFi to your hearts content.

Own bicycles
Please be aware, that we have a weight limit of 22 kg (48.5 lb), if you bring your own bicycle on board of one of our boats. It is not possible to bring own E-bikes on board.
This limit is important to protect the health of our guides/crew members,
than they have to lift the bikes on board. If we consider it necessary, we will check the weight of the bicycle on site. If the weight limit is exceeded, we reserve the right to refuse taking the bike on board.

Luggage Advice
Please bring your personal belongings in fold-able travel bags. Please avoid hard protective cases. They will be too heavy to store within your cabin.

Our ships
Please do not forget that the ship is your hotel as well as a machine, which has to be maintained and operated – day and night. A certain level of noise is therefore inevitable.

Totally exceeded my expectations on every level. Guides: Dionysis and Yiota are two of the very best in the business. Knowledgeable, professional, fun, friendly and competent. They took a personal interest in every person on the tour and made the whole experience extra special for each one of us. The ship’s captain and crew are first rate. They responded to any request quickly and were happy to answer all the questions we had. My cabin was comfortable and well equipped with clean linens, etc. I enjoyed every aspect of this trip and highly recommend it as the best way to experience Greece.

Julie

Last week I had the pleasure of being guided around the Ionian Islands on an ebike through Island Hopping. Although my guides, Kostas & Isabell, weren’t responsible for the fantastic weather, they were responsible for our safety, comfort and enjoyment, and they both pulled that off wonderfully! They knew their stuff and how to motivate us and keep us together. Their charm and energy were contagious! The crew also saw to it that we had fantastic, abundant food, and plenty of opportunities to swim in the sea. They even kept us out of harm’s way during a storm or two. Make sure you choose a bike and tour that’s right for you. Our lovely boat the Panigiotta was in a league of its own and the star attraction whenever we pulled into the harbor. I loved living on the boat, but be aware that your cabins will be very small – you might want to compare the different options available and pack light.
