Riding bikes through the Netherlands is awesome. This trip really focuses on the cycling and not on the river/canal cruising. If you want a relaxing holiday this may not be the trip for you, although you have the option not to cycle, the activities and timing of meals are really geared toward cycling and generally everyone does that. Also, if you’re not a morning person beware as well. After 7am breakfast and off the boat at 8 or 9am the cycling is easy and beautiful, definitely choose the short itineraries if you want to stop and enjoy the scenery or a drink along the way. My only complaint is the bikes we were assigned needed a minor gear and brake adjustment which we asked for but they were unable to fulfill. I’d definitely recommend this tour.

We loved our Boatbike trip!! We did both the southern and Northern holland trips and each was wonderful!! Scenery, bikes, food, cabin, organization, guides, all excellent! Best vacation!!!!! Special mention to the dining room staff who made every dinner a 4 star experience!!!

Fantastic trip. The boat crew and guide were friendly, accommodating, and catered to my group. My family raved about the Southern Holland tour. The routes were great. Leisurely cycling through the farms, villages, towns, along beautiful bike paths. We would do another tour with this company in a heartbeat.

I loved my Boat/Bike! I did the Southern Loop from Amsterdam followed by the Northern Loop. Many times we had a choice between a long route and a shorter route. I always did the long route as I wanted to make the most of my trip. Getting back to the Poseidon and having coffee and a sweet treat in mid afternoon was alway a great reward for a successful bike day. The tour leaders were great as was the crew of the Poseidon.

Fabulous itinerary, wonderful staff on ship and bike guides. The trip of a lifetime in Holland. The ship De Amsterdam is very nice, however the food and the budget for the food was not good. Very inferior, poor quality food and quantities. Clearly the budget for food on this boat is very very low.Especially for a an active bike tour it was disappointing. The other highlights overshined this part of the trip.

Great trip through southern Holland, our first time on bike-boat. The only downside was the food was very bland – we ate out two nights on trip. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Trip: 11-18 Jun 2022. Southern tour with De Amsterdam boat. Hotel manager is not cooperative to help us store our luggage till 2pm and instruct his team to unload our luggage onto the pier at 1.30pm. He is more concern to ensure things goes his way and is chasing us off the boat as soon as possible. I’ve been in boat and bike for 2 times before and only faced this experience on this trip. In 2 previous trips, we are allowed to store our luggage at the lounge area and this will not affect incoming passengers. We observed his face expressions to be annoyed when the tour guide asked for his help to photocopy the day agenda and he insisted the Boat and Bike tour guide has to pay for the service. All this in front of the us, the customers. Is the boat manager a team player or only care about the boat? On the good performance, the Indonesia and Turkish waiters are very polite and friendly. They provide us more soup when we requested it and they always serve with a smile. They also come and make small talks with us that we become like good friends and we throughly enjoy their company. The 3 tour guide is also great. We have a ebike battery problem and request change. The boat team just ignore us and one of us has to paddle without ebike power for 2 days. When we inform Tom, he immediately take action and instruct that he give up his ebike for us. Observation on the last day briefing, both boat captain and boat manager complimented each other very much but the 3 boat and bike guide was not given opportunity to address the audience. After the captain dismiss us on the farewell briefing, Marielle our tour guide has to take the microphone from the captain to thank the audience for support and welcome us to more experience with other boat and bike tours. We will come back for boat and bike experience in other boats but not with de Amsterdam.

We just finished a week on De Amsterdam exploring southern Holland, and we already wish to return. Everything about the tour was wonderful. We loved the itinerary, the ship was everything we had hoped for and sparkling clean, and the provided maps and Ride With GPS gave us confidence in navigating our way around. Our guides Carla, Marielle, and Tom answered all of our questions patiently and thoroughly, and cared that our trip was successful and fun. The first day of biking there was a terrible storm forecast, but the itinerary was adjusted so that everyone could at least get out for the short route, which was appreciated, as the day was not entirely lost. The first night our air conditioner didn’t cool our room, but we asked to have it looked at, and when we returned later in the day, it worked perfectly, and there were no further issues with it. We found that Boat Bike Tours delivered everything that was promised, and that was a huge relief as we booked this tour in 2019 for 2020 travel, and could not take the tour until 2022 because of COVID.
