Well organized GPS routes. Good variety of scenic routes and points of interest.

Having a excellent crew who provided a welcoming atmosphere. Providing a social atmosphere where people from all different backgrounds can come together through cycling to build camaraderie and friendship.

    Canals, windmills and Medieval villages

Obviously the route is the best thing about the trip. Bruges and Ghent were highlights but the countryside was also spectacular in places. The accommodation was first rate; we had a main floor cabin. The bikes were solid upright bikes with a step thru. Possibly not the best in the wind but they appeared well maintained. With some exceptions the food was okay. They did cater to dietary concerns. Two of the meals are vegetarian. Breakfast was good with eggs every day plus a variety of cereals, pastries and fruit. Bread, meat, cheese and fruit are provided for a bag lunch on the road. Ride with GPS instructions were included and for the most part were accurate. The staff also provided route guides using the numbering system popular in The Netherlands and Belgium. These directions occasionally and on one day totally deviated from the RWGPS instructions. Be aware of this. The ride is not supported. 2 guides are riding the route but one is supporting riders who paid extra for for a guided tour. One guide acts as a sweep and can be contacted for bike and route problems by WhatsAp so make sure you have a data plan. As far as I know you cannot reboard the boat until it docks at the end of day so plan for this. My advice for the days riding to Ghent and Bruges is to make a sprint to get to these cities early so you can spend more time there. Likewise on the day you start in Antwerp, take an hour or so to explore the city. Other days you can dawdle along way.

    Very relaxing, athletic experience Overall

Overall, trip was very good. The meals were great, our accommodations (we bought the superior one with sliding door) were very nice and trip was well planned. I would have liked a herbal tea before bed, but no tea, coffee or other drinks (other than alcohol) were offered in the evenings. One significant improvement might be to offer another English television channel other than CNN. We are not all fans of America news! Maybe even consider one movie night? Perhaps a good German movie with English subtitles?

Really enjoyed our bike and barge tour&

Really enjoyed our bike and barge tour from Amsterdam to Bruges. The e-bikes were a must. Super easy to use and made for an enjoyable experience. The food on the boat was amazing. We enjoyed all of it. Tour staff very friendly and helpful. Going during the end of the season found a lot of the cafes on route were not open. It is helpful if you are use to using gps on your phone. Would definitely go on another bike and barge trip.

    Overall review Amsterdam to Bruges

It was a great trip on the boat . It was our first time doing a bike tour and we loved it . The food was delicious – Edith was a great as our guide and the person to explain things every evening . The e-bike was a blessing. The boat was comfortable and the staff friendly . I would do another bike tour with your company again !

A great way to see the countryside

Breakfast great lunches great. Dinners could have been tastier although fresh salads were great. Time on the boat, places to seat, tour guide was very good. As someone who never used the knoop system the first day of explanation was very confusing& .. after a couple of days of using it was very useful and easy to use. Thank you

Had a great time on our Amsterdam-Bruges boat-bike tour

“All staff did a wonderful job & understand how to deliver superb customer service. Meals ranged from great to just okay. Our room was much too small for two normal sized humans, which made it uncomfortable for anything other than sleeping – a flaw that cost BBT one-star. Touring guides were terrific & did a fabulous job, even in challenging circumstances! Miscommunications between BBT & a last-minute replacement guide caused an unnecessarily and uncomfortable long Day 1 bike ride – 35 miles (56 km) was planned; reality was 52 miles (84 km), which was truly dangerous for a mostly senior crowd. Thus, fatigue caused numerous, easily avoidable scraps & bruises for a few less fit travelers. That helped us understand, clearly, that we were on an “”Adventure””, disguised as a biking tour. The physical pain of the day eventually subsided (no joke, it was rough) and each subsequent day was better & better. Truly enjoyed it all, even Day 1, and being with a diverse worldwide mix of other “”bike-minded”” travelers was a pleasure. It wasn’t perfect, but it was still a wonderful trip and fairly priced. Highly recommended. We had a unique and terrific “”adventure”” & look forward to experiencing more of the same.”

Thank you for your detailed feedback and for sharing your experience. We re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the staff, guides, and the overall adventure, as well as the camaraderie of fellow travelers. We sincerely apologize for the challenges on Day 1 and the discomfort caused by the longer ride, as well as the small cabin size. Your comments regarding meal quality and communication will be shared with our team to help improve future tours. We appreciate your understanding and positive outlook despite these issues, and we look forward to welcoming you on another Boat Bike Tours adventure soon! Warm regards, Team Boat Bike Tours

Biking Was Great but Barge Had Limitations…

“The biking part was very good but the routes were not updated when biking to Amsterdam. Major route was in repair for weeks. We had to figure a way back on track. Took us many km out of our way. This type of thing should be known and the route updated. The boat was nice but food was not as expected (i.e. frozen mixed veggies, items titles were misleading like “”souffle”” was a frozen puff pastry, etc.). Food was fine but I expected much nice based on the write up. No free coffee or tea with dinner. You had to pay 3 or 4 euro for a coffee. That was no expected. No service whatsoever on the deck of the boat. Customer service was poor. Attitude of the bartender and the ship manager left a lot to be desired. Our bike guide Ludwig was very good. He was easy to contact when issues on the bike paths arose. He was very knowledgeable.”
