Another fantastic trip for us with Boat-Bike! This was our third trip with you and this time we brought our family to experience this kind of travel. We appreciated very much how the boat staff on the Gandalf (Hans, Saskia, Edwin) and guide, Cara, made this such a positive experience for all levels of abilities, ages and biking experience. The accommodation was good, food was fantastic (dank je veel Roos & Alesandra) and route from Maastricht to Amsterdam was interesting and beautiful. The side tours, like the glassblowing in Leerdun, Isvogel Distillery, and history/archeology tour in Vianen and dairy farm were great too and added to our knowledge of the area. My only regret is not having enough time in some of the places to explore more, but that just means I have to come back. :). My only recommendation for this late season cruise would be able to have access for heat in the rooms or access for extra blankets/duvet as the evenings were quite cool.

The routes were varied and beautiful in unique ways, from elegant urban gardens along the canals, to bucolic, traditional farms in the lush countryside. Our guide was entertaining, resourceful, attentive and flexible, to make our daily rides as dry as possible during rains, adjusted routes during heavy headwinds, and accommodated our distracted attention during interesting side trips! Our chef was creative and varied in her daily menus, and the capitain(s) and crew were efficient and good natured!

Super nice trip with a good guide and fine service on the boat. Can highly recommend the trip from Maastricht to Amsterdam.

The staff aboard the Sarah are outstanding. Tom is a fun and engaging tour leader. Agnes is an outstanding cook ably assisted by Romek and Silvia. We greatly appreciate Silvia washing our clothes. it makes the trip more enjoyable to put on clean clothes in the morning. Romeo s smile is contagious. He adds to the overall good feeling on the boat. And, of course, Martien puts it all together. As a former manager, I admire his style of giving the staff independence yet still encouraging teamwork. Well done!

This was our second boat bike tour and overall, the experience was really good. The Gandalf is an older converted barge which takes about 20 passengers. We received a very warm welcome from the staff who were great – they were friendly and very helpful for the entire trip. The meals were delicious and generous, just like home cooked food. Miko our tour leader did a wonderful job of herding the group and arranging interesting excursions and visits along the way. The riding was very pretty, often going through fields, little villages and mostly on cycle paths. Perfect Dutch cycling conditions and the distances were very manageble between 36 – 50 kms a day. The skipper was flexible so that on the occaisional wet morning we could stay on the boat which then dropped us off so we could cycle the remaining distance. A group of us preferred to cycle more quickly so we cycled seperately from the other group led by Miko. Our fellow passengers were just delightful, we all looked out for each other and we really enjoyed getting to know them. The only downside was that the cabins were not airconditioned which made sleeping quite uncomfortable because we had some hot weather. The portholes opened but there was no facility for cross ventilation. Fans were provided which helped, however they were noisy so maybe they need updating.

The staff were friendly and hospitable, we felt very welcome onboard. The Gandalf was not air conditioned and we had hot weather which made sleeping uncomfortable as the cabins were very warm. Having previously done a tour on the Magnifique II, this was very different and we were expecting a more comfortable boat experience. The riding days were a good distance and the pace was very manageable. Our fellow guests were lovely and it was enjoyable getting to know them during the week.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Boat and Bike tour from Maastricht to Amsterdam. Our guide led us on daily trips through lovely towns and the beautiful countryside, providing interesting cultural and historical information and stops along the way. All of the staff were very friendly and made sure everyone on board was well accommodated. The food was delicious, and our chef took great pride in providing an interesting menu throughout the trip. We enjoyed spending time with new friends from different countries, along with the several friends we were traveling with. I have recommended a Boat and Bike trip to many people since our return!

Staying on the Gandolf was great fun and the bike riding through the flat countryside and quaint villages was a real joy. Though the cabin was small, the mattress was comfortable and there were places to store your things. It was nice to have my own small bathroom. Showers were a bit tricky as the water fell back towards the wall and fixtures than on me. The food was plentiful and delicious, and dinners were all varied. Hans and Saskia did a great job getting us where we needed to be and were friendly and helpful. The bikes were in great condition. Our group used both ebikes and regular bikes, all of which worked well. Joan was a great guide with plenty of information and lots of experience biking in The Netherlands. He made sure the bikes were fixed to our liking. He confidently and calmly led the way and, almost every evening, offered a walking tour around the towns where we stayed. He found out what the group was interested in and made sure to include things related to these interests as we peddled our way across the country. We lucked out with the weather with clear, sunny days. Remember to stop for water in the afternoons and stay hydrated if you run in to this kind of weather.
