Not as “guided” as I expected

As this was the first time my husband and I have been on a bike tour, I was expecting the guide to be more available to help out and that we could cycle with him each day if that was our desire. I was surprised that the guiding basically was being given a map and a list of numerical markings to follow. Each night we would meet to go over this with the guide. Perhaps my husband and I were inept, but we got lost each and every day for at least a short while and it seems other groups did as well. We did get much better as finding the markers and successfully following the route, but this was not at all what I expected from our “guide” Otherwise, the format is wonderful and we loved the experience.

The tour you booked is an individual self guided cycle tour through Holland, which means; You go on your cycle ride every day at your own speed with the help of detailed maps and travel information. Travel guides will also be cycling the route in case of emergencies or an accident and can be reached by mobile phone. Sorry to hear this was not quite clear to you and you got lost several times. We do also offer guided tours , for example the tour from Amsterdam to Bruges! Maybe for some other time?
