Seeing the Netherlands via bike was a primo experience. Our guide skillfully navigated us from place to place while filling us in on Dutch history and culture. Our accommodations on the boat provided both a unique and very comfortable experience. The boat crew were wonderful and we all wished to take home the chef who kept us well fed. Dinner each night was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. My family and I are already looking forward to booking another similar trip.

We had a great boat and bike experience. The crew of the Sarah were very friendly and most careful to ensure that we had an enjoyable trip. The cycle guide were helpful, competent and knowledgeable.

We booked the Maastricht to Amsterdam ride from September 17 to 24 2022, and it was great. The boat was perfect for what we were looking for, with private and quite cabins, each with their own bathroom. As shown on the company’s website the cabins aren’t huge, but they were exactly what we were expecting. The dining room and outdoor sitting area were also great, along with all of the meals provided by our wonderful chef. The crew overall was fantastic, always eager to ensure our trip went great. In particular our guide Simon was amazing, both during the guided cycling days as well as entertaining us all in the evenings with songs and trivia contests. All in all the trip was fantastic and we will definitely use Boat Bike Tours on our next trip.

We had a really nice trip. We brought a group of 11 and all had a great time. The crew was very friendly, informative and helpful. Not to mention lots of fun! Enjoyed learning new games to play ( thanks Sander and Robin!!) Our guide, Simon, did a fantastic job!! We learned a lot from him. Such a great way to see the country!!

I have been fortunate to have taken many vacations, this one however, topped them all. Our boat, crew and fellow passengers were all excellent travel companions. Wilmie, our guide was helpful, informative, knowledgeable and knew just when to take a break. Our Captain, Sander was friendly, got to know us and helped the crew and passengers whenever the opportunity presented itself. The rest of the crew, Marlene our hostess, Pietro the chef and Krzystof were all amazing as well. The cycling was very well planned out and the nightly tours of the various towns we were in were a bonus and only helped those on the tour to get to know each other better, while having a more culturally immersed experience. Location, food, boat and crew were all wonderful. All in all a fantastic experience. Thank you!

This was a wonderful trip along the moselle, on the Sarah. Our guide, was excellent guiding us trough the many villages. The crew was very attentive to our needs and the food was very good.

We spent a week aboard the barge Sarah along with 18 cyclists, the youngest 50?, the oldest 80 plus, from USA, Canada, Australia, & Germany, and England. The conditions were ideal to enjoy socialising on deck or ashore after mooring up. Swimming off the boat felt very refreshing after a ride in the hot weather. The en-suite cabins are tiny so we didn t spend much time there. All substantial breakfast and evening meals were served aboard by the excellent chef and crew of four. We made our own packed lunch. The comprehensive cycle path network is often shaded by long avenues of trees, and surfaced in either concrete, paved or tarmac, away from motor traffic roads. You do have to watch out for cyclists coming fast in either direction. With our energetic and attentive leader to guide us at the head of the line we cycled 40k plus most days. Our tour started and finished in Amsterdam and we moored up in Arnhem, Doesburg, Deventer, Kampen, Spakenburg (Hanseatic cities) which we explored on foot. Each evening after dinner we had a brief tour of a town together before discovering a bar (even a music festival) for further refreshment. Although the watery landscape is flat, the scenery constantly changes; the farming and land use, architecture, and cycling/transport infrastructure all provide a fascinating unfolding panorama (or cyclorama!) Discovering and embracing the Dutch cycling culture is a constant pleasure. More time for photos and selective sightseeing would be appreciated. Also, historical and cultural information combined with an explanation about the route, towns and areas we visited would be worth providing in addition to the tour notes.

We had the most wonderful time! The weather was wonderful. The staff on the boat were super helpful. And the riding was great, and well paced. The food on the boat was also delightful. The *only* thing that wasn’t just fabulous was that, a couple of nights, it was a bit warm and the small cabins on the boat got pretty hot. But everything else was A+!!

I was in need of an adventure and when I found out about and reserved a spot with Boat Bike Tours I knew I was on my way having a terrific time. I wasn’t disappointed one little bit. The captain and crew were amazing, the accommodation’s were comfortable and food was excellent. The ride was spot on, riding through beautiful countryside or bustling cities at lower speeds with stops to enjoy lunch and new found friends.

This was a nice and pleasant trip with well chosen bike routes. Cabins were clean and staff was very friendly. Food was good, but the vegetarian option had hardly any protein, only vegetables. Only minor point was that there was a case of covid on board and the passengers were not informed on time, which could have caused problems for those who needed to travel by plane or to a location were isolation was possible.

We had a wonderful time, the food was delicious, and route was beautiful. Too bad Corona couldn t stay away and we disembarked with a positive test. Quite a few people were infected. There was only a hand sanitizer station, and was sparsely used. Our next stop was visiting family before going back home. Instead we had to stay in quarantine before going back to Canada. The main focus of the trip was visiting family. We think that there could be better precautions and ask people to test when feeling ill.

This is my second Boat Bike Tour and I would book again. I loved the daily bike riding through the countryside and small towns of Holland. We met interesting, like minded people on board and the staff were phenomenal – fun, kind, caring, competent folks who really worked hard to make the week a success. Wilmie, our guide was amazing. Food was good and plentiful. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the beds are a bit hard and the pillows need to be improved.
