Service was good but the food could of been a bit better.

Loved it. Would/will happily do it again I’d just prefer to bring my own bike next time. The step through bikes are a bit of a tank. Can understand why they are used but as an avid cyclist would prefer a lighter more traditional bike with a cross bar. The 5KM stretch at the end in Bratislava was a bit unnerving. Cars going 80KM/hr 15 cm from you. Would be nice if a suitable alternative could be found there. Got lost on that route too. Apparently the bridge we were supposed to turn left on in the farmer’s field had been removed for repairs. Then again I thrive on those things as it becomes one more story to tell. Those using Garmin Edge 520’s had no problem but 10 of us had become separated from that pack and didn’t see where they turned. Oh, well, we all survived!!!! The announcement was made that there had only ever been 1 flat tire in 10 years.I’m proud to say it’s 2 now! I’ve changed a lot of flat tires in my life but never on the back tire of an internal hub drive. Managed to do it with the help of a friend but only had low gear after that. Felt like a gerbil on a treadmill for the final 5KM! ;-) (Another story to tell). Thank you to Jann, the cruise director, for the large beer in honour of the episode. Shared it with my friend. Being from Canada my phone didn’t have European roaming so couldn’t call for help. Maybe I’ll buy a “burner” next time. Was surprised at just how good the evening meals were and “Pirate Night” was outstanding. Crew were fabulous. So many names I didn’t know but noted were Tomas, Michal and Dominika. Entertainment fun and social (Thanks Bob and Api). It was a great experience and I’m sure the 6 of us will be talking about it for a long time. Thank you

Bikes great, people awesome, excursions need some attention, food okay. Sending emails that we had not payed needs to be resolved. Boat accommodation excellent upper renovated suites are great. Thanks Karla Ingbritson

The value is definitely there when you compare to the bigger river cruises. No butlers, no huge food selection, entertainment-well????, you manage your own bags BUT you don’t pay for those things either. Food was fine- (especially breakfast) you’re off the boat to experience local cuisine often as well. No WIFI. I think they need to fix that. The room (the large with the patio door) was fabulous and worth the $$ upgrade. Personally I would not have been comfortable in the lower level. The staff was FANTASTIC and I always felt very safe and noticed. If you’re cruising and not biking( because if an injury) they’re not quite used to having you on board during the day so that took a bit of …. I didn’t bike but the friends that did LOVED the experience and the efficient manner everyday was handled.

The entire experience was terrific!

Ship was average in accommodation cabins. Food was below standard. Tour guide was very rude to guests and crew. Stops were well planned..information to find your way around in English, was very poor…lost many times

I cannot give a better rating as the bike and barge turned in to a bike and hotel due a barge break down and repairs not able to be done in time. We found out about the breakdown 2 hours before we were due fly out so it was very stressful having to deal with alternatives on such short notice. I will say that Boat bike tours did a good job in finding an alternate tour for us and the hotels and meals were very good. Was not impressed with the pre trip information session done by “radreise” the morning of departure as they did not do a good job of explaining how the trip was to go and we never saw a representative from them after that morning. Basically we were left to fend for ourselves the entire trip. Also there was suppose to be a walking tour of Passau the evening before departure which did not happen as no representative showed up to give the tour.

We had a great time. Unfortunately we were supposed to be on a bike/boat tour, but our boat was damaged a couple days prior to our tour so we were switched to a bus/bike tour. However, the company did a pretty good job, given the short time frame. The hotels and meals that were substituted were reasonable and some were very good. I would do this again.

This was our second trip with boat bike tours. We didn’t realize that they were an acting travel agent until we were ready to go. Our trip along the Danube was cancelled last minute due to the ship Arlene II running aground. We found out hours before we were to leave for the airport. It was a bit of scrambling, but they offered us a hotel/bike tour instead. It was ok, but quite disorganized at first. We felt a little abandoned. It ended up being ok and we had a lot of fun, but it was a pain to pack up our bags each morning. We were living out of our suitcase the whole time. Also, most of the hotels did not have air conditioning and we hit a heat wave at the end of August so it made it hard to sleep. Another big disappointment was that the tour (originally Passau to Budapest) only went to Vienna. The main reason we booked it was to go to Budapest. After such a great experience last year (best of Holland) it wasn’t as good, but we made the best of it and enjoyed the beautiful scenery along the Danube.

Overall we had a great time. The boat was well appointed and the rooms very comfy. The food was excellent and the service was great. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The rides were well chosen and organised. There were a few issues though : Our toilet/shower smelt somewhat until the cleaner gave it a good clean. The maps and instructions provided were a bit vague sometimes On the top deck it would be sensible to provide a designated area for smokers at the back so that non-smokers could enjoy a smoke free environment
